General corner splitters

General corner splitters

I wouldnt get the corner splitters, imo they look a bit cheap. If you wanted a splitter, adapting one to fit from another car like an old vw polo would be good.

As for the lights, im not really sure, but the smoked/red ones as standard look pretty good i think.

how can they show an item specifically made for the uno and then show a picture of a corolla?! Madness! How in the world does that give you an idea of what it looks like?!

Corner splitters - absolutely hideous, and tail-light lenses - waste of money ;)

You did ask for opinions but honestly, can't you tint the standard tail-lights with some spray window-tint, or red paint?

Incidentally I sprayed black vinyl colour into my tail-light lenses on my white Uno 60, it looked rather cool but it DID make the lights hard to see, so not really a very bright idea (if you'll excuse the pun). I cleaned it out with paint thinners after complaints from the warrant-of-fitness people.

You haven't even passed your driving test yet, so I assume it's a "slow" Uno you have?

I seriously suggest that you don't spend any money on "mods" as it'll be a waste of money.

You'd be better off (and have much more fun) doing little bits on the engine for cheap and racing 'new' euro boxes like Corsa's, 106's, etc. 'cos you'll win!

Try GSR Engineering they do mods for the 1.0l

You cant really do any engine tuning on the cheap thats gona make enough difference to significantly lower 0-60 times.

Your best bet would be to make it handle and stop better.

Personally i like to do cosmetic mods to my uno as i like the car. Im not kidding myself that i could make the engine any faster so i dont bother with it. People who mod any car, regardless of it being a "slow" uno or not, know that they arent going to get the money back that theyve paid modding it unless its some sort of iconic feature car.

whats the site fir GSR engineering chris? i have a 1.0l start. what other cosmetic mods have you done to your uno that i could do to mine?

managed to get a digital clock for my uno from the local breakers yard, only wanted a £1 for it too!!!!! (y)

Simple exterior mods like:
Mesh grille
Clear front indicators
Smoked side repeaters (from Cinquecento)
Colour-coded rear badges

Getting some alloys, lowering it and getting an exhaust are all things that would make it look good too.

Ive also got a full leather interior though! :D

Have a look at my website, click on the pic below V V V

ive checked your site before, its ace (just like your uno!! (y) ) im hoping to get my bumpers colour coded too sometime soon.

as for the digital clock i picked up, will the wires it connects to already be on the wiring loom of the car???

Cheers charlie, flattery will get you everywhere! (y)

My bumpers arent colour coded though, just lots of armorall and a good job the car is black!

The wires should already be behind the dash for the clock.

Just give the car a good service and get it running sweetly. Run it around for a couple of years without any crashes. Then get a better (faster) car where the insurance cost is then more affordable.

Much better idea.

i fine with this uno thanks. not gona do anything too major (tune the engine!) jus get it looking nice and neat. ten think bout alloys when i have built up some no claims bonus's. then after university maybe invest in an uno-turbo/cinq. sproting

I'm with Chris on this one, you dont have to waste huge amounts of money on silly looking bodykits that nobody likes such as all the nova and corsa chavs do. You can do simple things such as you say colour coding the bumpers, Slam the car down with a lowering kit, and put on some nice wheels. Ok that may cost a bit but you can always find a good bargain if you search around. Check out ebay u can always find lowering kits for the uno on there dead cheap and sometimes people sell nice uno turbo parts which you can fit onto your standard one litre such as alloys or interior bits and pieces. And other little touches like debadging, clear side repeaters, indicators etc all make the car look nicer. Personally i quite like the corner splitters but not everyone has the same taste in mods. But each to their own.
The trouble is once u get your car looking really nice you will be reluctant to sell it and then you may just decide to stick in a turbo engine instead like i did lol :D But if i were you i would personally just keep the car as a 1 litre, build ur no claims up on it and then sell it and find urself an uno turbo or something else which is quicker as engine swaps can be expensive and dont always go right unless u go to someone you can trust.
So all i would say is have fun with your car and enjoy it. Dont be put off by others cos its your car at the end of the day mate

im gona stick with it until ive finished uni, so thts at least 3yrs. what happens till then such as lowering and just the little bits to make it look better will happen, if i dont sell it i have a little bro that will be driving by then so he can have it and ill still have it (in a way lol). thanks for your input tho guys (y)

besides the things i try now will help me for when i get a new car (uno or not) as ill have a bit of experience with things such as using bodyfiller and spraying, dont you agree?? (y) or (n) (lol)

If you can get the parts really cheap, then yeah that's great, especially if you do the mechanics yourself (learn something, experience, etc.).

I plan on keeping my Uno until it completely dies, purely for the 3rd party insurance cover to driver other vehicles :D

Although, if anyone can tell me about a possible twin carb conversion then I'll do that tomorrow!

But after uni I wanna get something quite fat. Maybe an Uno Turbo if I can find a good one, but more likely an Alfa, Coupe Turbo Plus or one of the Honda Type-R's.

Have fun with it!

im just going to use it to "practice" mechanics and body working skills on, then get a better car. was thinkin of an escort mk4 rsturbo/uno turbo. think the cinq.'s are a little too small for me. plus turbo will be more fun. dnt intend on spending loads and loads on parts, but maybe will on the simple things that will just make the cars appearance a little more "updated"
