hey just bought myself a 87 uno and am loving it.
few questions

what is their standard boost?
ive heard the mk1 engines are pritty solid and am running mine at 14 (1bar) daily but apparatly its dafe for up to 18psi?

what is their standard specs and performance figures? eg
-hp or kw
-torque
-weight
-0-100 time if possible

and would you guys out there who know alot about fiat unos be able to give and approximate figure on how much my uno is ptting out?

mods are all engine, no body mods ( love the sleeper look)

-msd coil and ignition system
-18psi boost
-high curent ignition leads
-good spark plugs
-front mounted big intercooler
-pod filter
-bov
-full straight through exhaust with single muffler.
-dump pipe to atmosphere from turbo

(i know all these mods are minor im just listing them so u know)

how much horsepwer do u rekon?

and im also considering putting a bigger turbo in it? would there be bug power gains and if so approx how much and what turbo would you
reccomend?

really aprreciate your help ! :)

Did you buy the red one on Trademe?

14psi is fine. 18 psi is really too high. It wont blow up but it wont make any more power and the turbo will wear out a lot faster. There is not a lot of point. With a larger turbo 18psi would give a lot more power but you will blow the engine up as it will run lean without extra fuel.

Standard they are 850kg, 105hp, 0-100 in 8s, 0.5bar boost (7-8psi)

yours probably has 130hp or there abouts, should be a lot quicker 0-100

Yea i did! Was actually not looking for anything in particular then i saw the uno and managrf to negotiate down to 2000 cash. Im really happy with my purchase so far. Only problem as of yet was a radiator hose ( i think it was the turbo water line) was leaning on the wastegate and it eventually burnt a hole in the pipe and it was pissing out water but ive fixed that all up now and its mint.

ohhk i have kind of noticed that myself actually. Not a big difference between around 18psi and 14psi.

do u have a mk1 uno urself? if so do you know where in the rev range it should be delivering full boost?

So do you think it would be worth the money to upgade to a better turbo? I dont really want to spend heaps on the car but want it to go faster! haha.

Sweet thanks for your help

I am just curious but if you put bigger injectors in then would you need to put a higher powered fuel pump on? or would you just get an adjustable fuel regulator and up it?

Can you not just use an FSE fuel pressure regulator to up the pressure in the rail and use the standard injectors? or do they not flow enough CC's even with higher pressure?

Thanks
Dan

The fuel pump is an old school external bosch. These are grunty and don't need to be upgraded.

FSE increases the fuel pressure a little, similar to larger injectors. Larger injectors need to be tuned or they will run way too rich.

Turbo should make full boost around 2500.

ohh no. my one dosnt get full 14psi till around 3000 or a little higher. What could this mean? do i need a new turbo?

That's close enough, it will take longer to get to 14psi than 8psi. Bigger intercooler etc will make a difference, turbo old etc etc. if it still works, nothing to worry about.

Larger turbo is worth more power but its a lot of stuffing around and it can make the car less fun to drive (more lag etc)

ohhk sweet as was a little worried but yea go nuts when it boosts! haha made a funny video of a race against ferrari on the we. got beaten obviousl but was really really close. will get it on youtube soon.
How many uno turbos do u rekon are still around in NZ?

naa not selling! just put on 2 see if i got any interest! and had an almost immediate buyer for my asking price haha.
going to take it down to merimeri drag strip. Hoping 4 mid low 14's. Possible do u rekon?
and also do the mk1 uno turbo come standard with green injectors?

i'd be impressed if you get mid 14's
i know the mods that i had on my Mk2 i was just into 15's
problem is getting traction off the line

As i soon learnt (and got told before but didnt truly believe) these are not made for drag strips but for circuit

hmm. Well ive timed my car 0-100 in 5.4 seconds with a lot of wheel spin. also bet a city turbo pretty solidly that ran a 14.9 and they are also fwd and suffer from loss of traction. You can veiw the vid of the exact car if you type in 'city turbo' on youtube. and that vid was before more engine mods.

Really? a track car? they dont really handle particulary well.

0 - 100 in 5.4 seconds? If that's mph shouldn't you be running in pro-street drag racing?!!!

Even if your car was doing 0 - 100 kph in 5.4 seconds that is still way quicker than most UT's can ever get. Exactly how are you recording these times?

Easy - he used my egg timer stopwatch that sits next to my knicker elastic measuring tape. You just have to count the grains. ;)

haha nope didnt use an egg timer :p
i just videod the speedo and then afterwards put it on a big screen with a stop watch in hand haha and playd the video heaps of times to get an average.
mmm and this is on only 13psi or thereabouts psi but if i go too much higher front wheels will break out into a skid in 2nd!
im just heading out now to time o-160 to get a better idea of a 1/4 mile time :) will update soon
