Hi guys, first post so i'll introduce myself. My name is Pedro im an automotive engineering student from Portugal

So, my father got me a uno 1.0 i.e.S last Dezember, car had some cold starting problems in the winter, i changed plugs and it runs fine now. couple days ago i parked the car and the day after it would not start... not a sign of him wanting to start.

Gas pump is fine. Theres no spark (i pulled one of the wires putted a screw driver inside and put it close to the chassis, turned the key and no spark...) after reading some thread's on the forums i'm guessing the problem migth be the ignition module, but its kinda weird it just died over nigth (could it be a fuse?), if someone has any ideas... also i'd like to know where the 4 coil wires (low voltage) go to or come from.

thanks in advance

Hi, welcome to the forum

I think you should get your hands on another ignition module - always a good idea to have a spare for future situations anyway.

The four coil wires - one is a constant 12V supply (orange?), one takes that 12V to the ignition module (red?), one is switched to ground by the ignition module (green?), and one is for the tachometer (grey?) The first two are effectively connected to the coil positive terminal, the second two are connected to the coil negative terminal. I think the later Uno like yours has a four-pin sealed plug and I don't know the wire colours for certain.

Also check the insulation of the pickup wires inside the distributor - sometimes the insulation flakes off and the wires fray and short out. Make sure the ignition module is grounded by its black wire screwed to the distributor body.

well... it was a fuse allrigth but it wasn't even burned just bad contact... i wonder how much i would charge for this repair if i was a mechanic :D thanks anyway alex

Interesting - sorry to lead you wrong... Which fuse and where?

I have to admit I don't know much about the post-'91 fuel injected Uno models.

mine's from 92, this morning i checked if there was current going to the coil and regulator (there was) but there was no spark so i guess that's weird. i dont know what fuse was i just pressed them all lol, turned the key and it started with no problems... maybe one related to ECU
