Good progress Dale!

Only thing I don't like is the side repeaters. They look too modern for me and lose the 'angular' characteristics of the Uno design. Just my personal opinion though, not a criticism :)

Otherwise excellent job so far (y)

Have you thought about fitting a red carpet from a mk1 turbo? Getting rare to find a good one these days though.

Edit: Interesting to see how without the dashboard the front of the mk2 is almost identical to the mk1! I know all too well what it's like to swap dashboards and wiring over :bang: ;)

Just a thought but if the door cards dont have holes for the winders then just cut holes out for them.
As long as the holes you cut are smaller than the base of the winder you wont see them and will look like they are meant to be like that

I think Dale intends to fit electric windows eventually and doesn't want redundant holes left in the door cards ;)

i have one that you can have if you want it....(y):D

I've already got one ;) Just haven't fitted it yet

p.s. your uno is looking great!

Mine or Dale's? Or both?!!!

:p

cheers for all the replies (y)

and i do have the front door cards from a turbo with the holes for the electric windows which i have all the kit for. :D
just looking at wiring its gonna need some time.

how much would you sell the carpet for?
as red carpet sounds cool to match the car :D

It's not that difficult, I retrofitted electric windows from a mk2 turbo into my mk1 45S. If you can extract the electric window loom in its entirety from a Uno fitted with them then it's possible to fit it into a non electric window Uno loom and make it look like a factory fitment. I did it without any horrid Scotchlocks or nasty crimp on connectors and only used the original Fiat connectors! Have a look at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual and you will see it is actually a rather simple circuit. It's the central locking system that's way more complicated, hence why I never fitted it to my 45S.

Here's a picture (below) of a mk2 Uno Turbo electric window wiring loom being hung out to dry! It had a lot of sticky goo on the wiring from insulating tape so I gave it a good wash and clean. Worked a treat after fitting as well (y)

is the black box a control box for the windows or the locking?

Cheers,
Louie.

Do you mean the grey 'black' box Louie? ;)

It's for the windows and it's just a relay with the fuse holder clipped onto it. Electric windows are actually very simple - compare the wiring schematic for those with the wiring schematic for central locking (in Mr. Haynes' manual).

And if you're prepared to fiddle with watchmakers screwdrivers you can unclip the individual terminals from the UT wiring connectors and then refit them into the loom connectors in a non electric window Uno. Takes about an afternoon to do it properly, with the biggest pain being removing the dashboard to get at the under dash wiring. At the end of it though you get electric windows that look factory fitted (y)

im going to have some more fun with removing the dash again then.

ill have a read up in the haynes manual and hopefully get a nice sunny dry day to fit them (y)

just an update.
i have brought that mk2 steering wheel off ebay and should be with me in the next 2 days :D
getting turbo bumpers soon too.

get some more pics up soon when i have added the new parts

bit of a problem. found out today that i need a new water pump :(
more money that i cant really afford to spend but i need my car so i have to get it.

delivery said 48 hours please someone tell me that recorded delivery comes on bank holidays (this friday)
cus if not thats a ****ter.

Here's a 99% complete wiring loom with the electric window loom, though the seller says the electric windows have been messed with. Might still be serviceable though?

You have a FIRE lump in your car at the moment? As for the water pump, any decent motor factor should have one in stock and they shouldn't be that expensive. Oh, and sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but I'm almost certain that there's no post delivery on Good Friday as it's a bank holiday. :(
