Hey!

I've just got a Fiat Uno 60 1988 :D and the dash is awful! It's almost falling apart and chips off in my fingers! Does anyone know a way to bring it back to life or if flocking it is worth a shot? Have tried to get one from a wrecker but have had no luck yet!! My boyfriend has a turbo charged engine to put in it but I want to get the interior fixed up first!!

Thanks,
Krissie

The dash roll is pretty easy to repair. You need to remove the dash board which isnt too hard. Just remove the instrument cluster (lots of screws), then unscrew the dash board (there are about 8 screws) then you need to pry the dash off two clips that are at the top corners of the dash.

Once the dash is removed that roll can be removed by unscrewing the 5ish screws from below).

Now you can simply re-cover it (we have done this to a couple of dash boards).

In NZ the UV light is pretty bad so those dash rolls dont last long, so finding a good one in a wrecker is going to be hard.

You can possibly remove the roll without removing the entire dash board, but you do need to remove the instrument cluster and switches as they are installed on top of one end of the roll.

Good luck and welcome to the Forum.

Oh and if you ever need a hand with your Uno and dont mind the trip to Hamilton I'm sure we could accomodate :)

Hello,

Thanks Totaleclipse, I think it might be quite a bit in shipping to get one to Auckland?

Thanks for all the info JJHepburn! I'm going to attempt taking it off today and see if I can get it flocked or re-painted! Thanks again though, I thought it'd be a nightmare to take it off! Fingers crossed!
