Hi,
I made a post a couple of weeks ago regarding the replacing of the pipe that comes out of the back of the water pump on the 1100cc FIRE motor. I still haven't gotten round to doing the job yet as I want to also replace the lower rad hose and I've only found them available from the agents for a ridiculous price. It looks like I'm going to have to pay the R600 that they want for this hose though....
What I would like to ask is if this pipe can be replaced without taking the exhaust manifold off? It looks a bit of a tight fit with the manifold in place but if I can avoid the extra work of removing the manifold then I'd rather do that!
Thanks in advance for your help.(y)

Yes, the pipe can be replaced without taking the exhaust manifold off.

There is a bracket on the pipe that's bolted to the cylinder block in a rather half-hearted manner - so don't forget to unbolt it, or you'll wrench it off by mistake ;)

I think it's a good idea to add a smear of silicone sealant to the (new) O-ring before you push the pipe into place. The sealant acts as a 'grease' during assembly. And of course, make sure the sealing surfaces are clean (I find Scotchbrite - pot-scourer type stuff - essential for this sort of cleaning.)

Thanks Alex, will do that. Once I take shares in Fiat to buy the lower hose I hope to tackle it this weekeend!

Hi UnoMia,,, From Pretoria - Gauteng,, you can try Uno's Africa phone: 012 379 4110,, speak to Francois,, I buy all or rather say most of my parts there as Uno Turbo parts are TOO hard to get. I think they will post the parts for you as well

Hi,
Thanks for the phone number, I'll give them a try tomorrow. I think that R600 for a lower hose is a little too much to pay!
