Hi All, looking for a little advice while doing some work on my Mk1 SX, I want to remove the front seats so I can take the carpets out, followed the haynes advice of unbolt at the front and then slide back out of the runners, however they don't seem to want to slide out all the way, are there any additional fastenings?

All advice appreciated

Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

Welcome to the forum and to the Uno

There is a bent-outwards tab inside each rail, towards the back. Get something like a 3/8" socket drive extension and use it as a drift, with a mallet, to knock the tabs flush. Then all that will be stopping you from success is the carpet around the back ends of the rails. ;)

I never bother to pry the tabs back out again because the geometry of the seat prevents excessive rear-movement anyway.

While you have the carpet out, don't forget to check the handbrake lever mountings (the captive nuts crack free of the floor) - can be welded or replaced with large washers/longer bolts.

Cheers for that Alex, will give that a go.

Just stripped out everying from seats back and have found some serious rust (eg holes!) between the top of the suspension and the rear inner wings, does anyone know if repair sections are available?

Thanks
Pete
