Uno My Black MK1 UT thread

Introduction

Some of you might or might not know but i've had a black mk1 UT for just over four years now in a lock-up

I'm finally going to start working on it and it should hopefully be on road sometime during 2008. Its not going to be 100percent original from factory but exactly how i want it to look and go!

IMO its the best one, MK1(obvious lol) black, tipo gearbox, no sunroof and the late spec interior.

the engine has been re-built with hybrid turbo, ported head, lightened and balanced bottom end, piper cam and some other goodies. once its in and running i'm going to run it on aftermarket engine management.

pictures are the first time its seen sunlight in about a year.

I'll update this thread as and when i can :)

finished painting the footwells today! i got some sound deadening 100cm x 60cm rolls £10 each from a car audio shop in town, the two rolls i have got will do all four footwells but i wanna do all the boot and inside the rear quarter behind the rear door cards.

the rattley interior of my last uno really annoyed me so want this to be much better, I've fitted my sub amp cables properly too just need to buy some speaker cables next then can fit my cleaned interior back in!

Good effort there!

I did something similar to mine earlier this year - fitted a large amount of silver foil-bitumen sound deadening...

I'll be interested to know the outcome of yours - my Uno is seemingly every bit as rattly as ever :D It could have something to do with the fact that when I drive it, I've usually stepped out of something much newer, like the 2006 Civic Hybrid (which is now back with its 'owner', i.e. the person who pays the lease).

I'm gonna try and make my mk1 as less rattley as possible, I've now done all the 4 footwells and have half finished waxoyling inside the sills, inner wheel arches and where ever i can get it!

I plan to put some sound deadening in all of the boot, on the rear turrets and the spare wheel well, it doesnt really weigh that much so shouldnt add too much weight to the car,

Nice!! Lights look good, ive seen them on a couple of uno's before but tried looking for them on ebay but with no luck. Wheres the best place to find them?
Cheers

got hold of a wiper motor and went hunting round the scrapyards for a wiper today, no mk1 unos at all so got a punto mk1 wiper which i think looks loads better than the standard wiper anyway,

also fitted on the tipo wheels i got, i'm going to have them polished and the inserts painted black so there gonna look very nice when done :)

the car now runs and drives! finally lol, had to buy a new driveshaft as the old one was ****ed, i've also bought a new dump valve a bailey dv36 which has sorted the idle out, i've also ordered some samco coolant pipes and red vacumm pipes but they take 4 weeks to be delivered!

i bought a new gear nob and cut the gear stick down to make it a bit shorter couldnt get hold of an original one but i like the alloy nob lol

i need to adjust the gear linkages as you cant get 1st and 2nd gear, not much left to do now going to take it for an mot after i've bought some new lights for it and sorted out the rear brakes,
