hello there!

i've ran out of ideas, mechanics and wizards to fix my uno so i'm trying the forums as last resort, hopefully. here is my story: i'm recently experiencing running problems basically right after the first few turns of the radiator fan.
the engine just gasps and dies if not revved. wifey and i share the car and unfortunately my wife doesn't have a quick foot to recover lost rev just a quick mouth to complain :D. the problem just dissappears after about 15 minutes of running and comes back only when i warm up the engine again. i also noticed that when the car is not used for three or four days again the problem isn't just there. use it daily...:bang: i hope you guys help me out

Hi mate.

If you have problems when the fan kicks in, it's normally water related, such as faulty thermostat and sensors to do with water. Might also be bad earthing. Check all electrical connections to do with your fan and check all earths.

Remember when a fan kicks in, it draws a lot of power in to run it, and you normally can hear your car drop revs. So once again your problem is indicating to bad wiring, maybe even to do with your alternator.

If you're receiving this problem when on idle, than your revs are probably to low and need tweaking up.

Hope some of what I've said helps.

Thanks a lot mate! :)

maybe my uno just beggining to feel the bad effects of being submerged in dashboard level flood water exactly a year now.

Earthing was my first thought. Its common to have earthing problems with the earth from the battery - to the inner wing and then to the gearbox. Make sure the connections are all nice and clean. give them a rub back etc. Otherwise just make sure all of the other earths are ok.

Might be the fan itself at fault. Does similar happen when you put alot of load on the alternator (eg full beam headlights on with other electrics going etc)? Ide tackle the earths first but its possible the fan is at fault and drawing too much power. I highly doubt it is any engine component at fault.

thanks again. i'm bringing my uno this coming weekend to an automotive electrician for sure then i'll let you all know what happens.
