Ah, the wonderful 'econometer'!

First of all, does the gauge only go to the right side when you turn the ignition on? Does it go back to the left when you turn the ignition off?

If it does, then the gauge is fine and it will be the sender unit that isn't giving out a signal.

You can find the sender unit for the 'econometer' in the engine bay, next to the coil. It will be located on the top suspension mount plate. Look at the right hand side of the picture below and find the coil. The econometer is just behind it (not really visible in the picture though).

Find the sender unit, and check to see if it has a wiring connector plugged in and also a vacuum pipe connected to the top. The vacuum pipe connects to a 'T' piece in the pipe that goes to the brake servo. Sometimes the vacuum pipe comes off from one of its connections, which makes the gauge stay on the right like you mentioned. Also make sure that the vacuum pipe isn't damaged in any way, and isn't leaking.

You could also try disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the 'T' piece and leave it connected to sender unit. With the ignition switched on, suck the end of the pipe and ask someone to see if the gauges registers anything. If it does then the gauge and sender unit are fine.

Good luck!
