don't bet the farm it'll be of similiar weight/power/torque....the newcomer may be all bells and whistles, and i do hope it's not simply a cash in on a was a fantastic banchmark car for fiat, but, you just know that every thing that made the tub great then and now, is going to be turned down a couple of notches, emissions, safety, noise and refinement, buyers will not accept 80's level refinement (or lack thereof) in a new millenium package, which means those moments of sphincter clenching on a series of back road bends as the boost cuts in and out, the nose biting in and washing wide as the car so chooses, are long gone....

It's a modified 500 isn't it.

So that's three variations on the Panda:)

I had an Uno 903cc for 140,000 miles, and loved it to bits. Rust and electrics killed it. Still miss that little car sometimes:(

LOL :D jai, u know it!

and the sphincter clenching line made me crease lol :D

Dunc

Ttoo tall.

that was the whole design concept of the uno, from teh megagamma concept, increase the height of the car to make the driver and passengers more upright, and you can make the overall vehicle slightly shorter, todays panda looms over my uno like a right monster!

and the sphincter clenching line made me crease lol :D

anyone who's owned one, has been owned (or come damn close) by one at some point...if they say they haven't:
a) they arent trying hard enough:cool:
b) they're lying:D

I like the concept of a new Uno. In fact just the other day I was thinking it was about time they released a new one (since every other model of car that is successful lives on in all new models...).

I think there is nothing wrong with a new Uno. Keep the name alive in a whole new generation.

I think we should call it the FIAT Uno Generation Two.

It has been reported that this was the new 2008 Ford Ka (heavily disguised) being developed by Fiat at the moment, and to be produced in the same Fiat factory as the Fiat 500....which is of course basically a Panda underneath.

According to someone who has been near it, it has the same wheelbase and same width as a 500.

The arched shape to the rear hatch (very Ford ka-like) and the heavily disguised headlights led me to believe that it could indeed be the Ford product, BUT I think you might be right. It could be the new UNO.

I can understand the car is still under development but Damn that thing is seriously UGLY! It reminds me of a fly with those big bug eye head lights lol
But i think it would be great to see an updated uno turbo, i think if anything it would make people even more aware of the original uno turbo and give the uno turbo more classic car status.

 F R O $ T Y

I think you're right. Looking closely, the details - door trims, dash, disguised switches and the like - not to mention that arched back, say Ford.

Also, I don't remember any plans by Fiat in their model prospectus for anything between the Panda and the GP. Right or wrong?

Interesting.

If I could buy a zero miles fiat uno turbo mk1 straight off the workshop line then I would happily spend what they charge for the newer models. I think the rattles and squeaks add to the character of the Uno. In my opinion the most under rated pocket rocket to date

That dash is very Fiat Panda and just look at the seat, Fiat not Ford.

A new Uno can only be good, presuming the car is good, to promote the older model and raise the UTs status from (almost) forgotten hot hatch to a genuine classic collectable and corresponding rise in values for those lucky enough to own one.

Look at the door trims.

Also the instruments. The heating controls are, I think, Fiat's, overlying something else...

But who knows?

I just wonder at the idea of another car with identical dimensions carrying a Fiat badge. I also wonder at Fiat allowing Ford to use Fiat badging to hide one of Ford's own cars. Jury out then. But I think Fiat;)
