Well i had to replace the slave cylinder on the mk2 UT again! when i fitted the lightened flywheel and clutch the other month i noticed the slave was leaking slightly so fortunately i brought my spare and fitted that and thought all was well, until the misses rang me at 8.00am friday. IT WONT GO IN GEAR!!! for fecks sake!!! luckily she had stopped for petrol and it didn't want to leave the station, so she asked the attendant if she could leave it there for me to come and tow it away, so me and my mate went and dragged her back. Fix It Again Tony!!! i went to my local car spares shop and he said he'l have a new unit in half an hour so instead of waiting a week from fiat i paid the man £32 and had it on in a couple of hours. the only prob was the flexible pipe, the end that screws into the slave had rusted together and is not adjustable anymore so i had to mess with the hydraulic pipes to mate them up So alls well again and im in the clear! i took a few photo's of the operation (you know me!!)

a mans screwdriver and lump hammer to remove the old slave as was rusted in dont forget to remove the circlip he he!! Ant!

Good work ants... Yes, removing the cylinder from its bracket seems to be impossible even in our reduced-rust conditions, I just gave up when confronted with this on a '92 Uno.

You'd have thought that a hydraulic cylinder failure would have been a slow worsening, rather than a sudden refusal to work at all! I was surprised.

It is possible to drive without using the clutch, but not easily, particularly in stop-start traffic. I clocked up over a thousand miles in my first car that had a clutch that wouldn't disengage. It was a matter of selecting 1st, then starting, and good luck from then on, really.
