My passenger side window has developed an annoying fault.
When trying to lock the car or wind up the window it gets to fully closed and the 'bounces' back open a few inches.
I looked at the window rubber at the top and it seems slighty misaligned but dont know if this may be the problem or not,a couple of weeks ago I had one of the rear windows stick open after mistakenly pressing open twice on the remote.I hate this function, can I disable it?
Any suggestions as to whats causing my current window problems?,at least to enable me to lock the car without the window reopening itself.
I dont have any fiat dealers nearby BTW.

Might be the rubber strip as its pushed out at the top slightly, its probably a simple thing.
Does anyone have a workshop manual for these cars?,I havent seen a haynes one,I'll cheerfully dismantle the door and rip out the sensor as its a waste of time anyway but I dont want to damage anything else in the process.
Oh and the handbook doesn't give the location of the fuses in the fusebox for the electric windows, can anyone help with that?

The anti-trap sensor is there for a reason...safety! Might not bother you but what about the person (family) you sell the car to in the future.
First you must sort out or replace that damaged seal, then if it is still not working correctly you will need to take it to a dealer,

If I wanted to be patronised I would have asked a politician or speed camera operator,if you cant help then dont post!.
I need a way of fixing this quickly, temprorarily as my car is almost useless if it cant be locked and weatherproof as I cant leave it anywhere.
The location of the fuses for the electric windows would be good as bizarrely its not in the handbook, unplugging stuff would work for me too,I need a clue as to where to look though.
The process of resetting the windows on the eurovan site doesn't work.
I'm not close to a dealer and dont want to pay hundreds of pounds for a trivial fault this close to Christmas( which has been mooted over the phone, ie a new sensor!!!!)

You may call it being 'patronised'....I prefer to call it 'the correct advice'.Also the dealer you phoned told you how to close the window...did you try it & as I previously stated have you tried to sort/straighten the seal yet?

Fuses F4 & F9 control the windows through the door nodes.

Not sure you could disable the obstruction sensor because I think it's a loading on the motor detection so it's part of the smart electronics.
I suspect the reset of the window end position didn't work due to the seal.

Yes I've tried all the combinations but I'm either doing something wrong or the advice isnt correct or complete. The seal is out of alignment slightly and when re-aligned the window just pushes it back out. I need to travel on tuesday and leave my wife a car that she can use,if that means disabling some of the systems in the meantime then so be it,I'm perfectly aware of what they are all for.
Thanks for the fuse locations I'll just nip out and try those, dont mind if all the windows are affected as I need security and weatherproofing before conveniance.
According to the handbook I have F7( 20A) and F9 (30 A) are spotlight, cigar lighter, glovebox light and auto mirror , and sunroof and windscreen wipers respectively, this is the fusebox beside the steering wheel as opposed to the one beside the battery or in the engine bay.
Are there any more systems connected to these on your info?,perhaps my book is wrong,I thought the ommision of the windows was strange.

F7 doesnt work, thats as stated in my book.

Hurrah!!
F9, that has disabled the electric windows at least the car can be locked. I can live without opening windows for a bit, and my windscreen wipers work so obviously the info in my handbook is a bit out.
Do you know what else is connected to this fuse??, as I haven't had a chance to have a look.

Where would I find a fuse diagram that would correspond to my 52plate jtd model? I wonder why its different from the handbook?

Update
The dealer has had an initial look at this and was unable to fix it at present, mainly because they couldn't get their computer system to communicate with my cars computer .So , in the meantime they disconnected the faulty window(along with the mirror:rolleyes: ) and I'll take it back in the new year.
I have to admit to being reluctant just to give the dealer an open ended invitation to find out the problem and fix it as I dont want to return to an epic bill following a few days of the garage wondering how to plug in a computer to get started.....all at a premium labour rate!

You may have tried this already, but if not, it may be worth a shot. I have been a Quality Team Leader in Vauxhall Motors for the past 10 years and we used to get this quite often with the Astra and the Zafira. To overcome the Window 'Bounce' (as it is called), we used to bring the window up with the switch, but in small increments. If you are lucky enough to get it all the way to the top, hold the switch in the 'Up' position for about 3-5 secs (on a Vauxhall you hear a small 'click'. The small 'Click' would denote that the window had 'Re-Set' itself in it's new 'Up' position, and the Window bounce would be cured. I know this advice may not work for you as I am talking about Vauxhall's, but up until 2 years ago Vauxhall and Fiat worked together and part of 'Our' Plant was "GM-Fiat Powertrain".

As far as i'm aware SteveJ this has been tried.

Dave G...communication with Ulysee body computer is not uncommon, had a similar problem recently which NumanR helped out with, its all to do with the later examiner software.
