Hi guys, I'm looking to replace the locks on my '97 ulysse. The drivers door lock had failed on me in the past and I had simply swapped it with the passenger lock and everything was going fine. Unfortunately, about 3 years later, this lock is now beginning to fail.

I've been told that a set of locks will cost around £200. I can handle replacing the doors myself but the ignition may be a different matter as it requires "coding" apparently (even though there are no buttons on our key for locking the car). To keep costs down we don't mind just replacing the door locks and putting up with a different key for the ignition.

So the questions are-

1. Does the key/ignition lock need to be coded?

2. Do I have to buy a full set of locks?

3. Anybody know where to get a set at a good price?

4. How much of a pain would two keys be?

And FYI the security keypad has been disabled on our car.

TIA
tom

I had to have mine changed because someone ripped the drivers door lock out trying to steal my GPS, its not kept in the car.
The insurance paid but the lock kit was about £200 from an independent FIAT dealer. The key did have to be coded and it took FIAT ages to supply the repairers with it.
There is a door lock on ebay at the moment, item 280026672155,

1. Does the key/ignition lock need to be coded?

Mine Doesn't

2. Do I have to buy a full set of locks?

No

3. Anybody know where to get a set at a good price?

eBay - (people scrapping ulysse - make sure they are private sellers NOT SCRAP DEALERS as they are EXPENSIVE)

4. How much of a pain would two keys be?

I Used to manage alright with mine (In the past)

And FYI the security keypad has been disabled on our car.

Mine has too and my keys aren't coded.

Mine didn't have the keypad. But the keys did need to be coded!
