Wouldn't you know it. Hottest weekend of the year so far and the air con has packed in. :(

Was working fine last week but started to misbehave on Friday, (taking ages to come on or making strange whirring noises but not starting up the fans).

Today I got nothing apart from 2 sweaty kids and a very uncomfortable heavily pregnant missus on a trip out, (the fans refuse to come on at any temperature regardless of whether the air con button is on or off, this is despite the display indicating that the fans are running)

I've checked the fuse and it's fine, (is the lid of the fuse box difficult to remove or what??), but after that I'm pretty clueless.

Anyone have a clue what might be the problem?? Or is it a trip back to Fiat??

Thanks for any insight you can give.

It could need a regas, you can buy a kit from Halfords which seems to work. If the pressure is low the compressor won't switch on.

The kit is about £39 and may be worth a try as it is easy to do.

Thanks for the reply Poggy but I don't think it is the Air con gas.

The fans won't spin up at any temperature or setting now so I think it's a job for the Fiat dealership I bought it from. (n)

Maybe a disconnect of the battery might help to reset it in case it is "confused". Trouble is the system is so complex it could be any number of things. Is it under warranty.

Yes i'ts still under warranty.

I'll try the battery disconnect first and if that doesn't fix it I'll go back to the dealer again.

Cheers

It is the fans that run inside the car. Heating, air con etc.

I turn them on with the dial thingy on the centre console. The LCD display indicates that they are working but nothing happens. The fans do not spin up and no air comes out of the vents at the front or rear of the car.

Typical that it stops working in a hot spell.
