Hi Victoria and welcome to the site, sounds like you got a real bargain their. I have a 2.0 eleganza auto got it on the 12/12/03 just getting to used to it myself ,wish I had know about the web site you posted the Fiat Fleet Disposals at Derby, might have bagged a bargain myself. Great site the second car is the same the same silver colour as mine. See that you mainly drove Multipla’s in the past, was at one time tempted but it was a bit too radical for me ended up with a Vauxhall zafira.

Hi

I liked the Quartz Grey (Silver) colour better than the metallic Green on the new one,

I am still a bit unsure about the combination of the Green exterior and the Blue interior on the new car, but as I never keep a car for more than 3 or 4 months I will live with it,

I am finding the 2.2 JTD on the new car a nicer drive than the old 2.0 Petrol.

As for the Multipla's they are a great car, I still think its the best way to do a six seater with the 3*3 layout, as for the design the bulge on the front is a real bug catcher in the summer, I took it round Scotland in the summer and needed to scrape the bugs off with a spade!!!

The Built quality on the Mulipla (Trim wise), is much lower than the Ulysse, you only have to breath on the Multipla trim and it marks or breaks,

Also as my summer fun car is a PUG 206cc and all the switchgear in the Ulysse is the same as in that, (Its always a relief that Fiat didnt have too much to do with designing the electrics) :D

I had a Stilo Abarth, and that put me off Fiat Electrics for life!

Hi,

Got yourself a bargain there, excellent website. You seem to be better at selling cars than our local dealer. Wish I had known about the place as I would have boought from there and not had to wait 4 months for mine !!!!!!.

Any idea on how to get into the tyre pressure menu in the new Ulysse and any other tricks.

Hi

I have not really got around to playing with the menus and the electrics on the Ulysse yet (I only have a few more days in the UK before I am working away again for a month), so don't think I will get a lot of time to play with it before I go, but any info I do find will be posted on my website,

I must admit that I am dissapointed that the Factory Fit Roof Mounted Screen and Multiregion DVD player is a totally stand alone unit, I was expecting it to be backwired to the standard stereo so that the sound could be played through the car speakers, but it isn't so the only option is the Infra Red Headphones, which is clumsy and wasteful, so one of my first jobs will be to wire an FM modulator into the DVD output so I can tune it in on the radio for easier use, I was also dissapointed that the AV sockets in the glove box are not wired across to the screen, (The Screen has 3 AV channels), 1 for the DVD and 2 spares, but niether of them seem to be connected to the AV socket in the glove box which seems a waste!
But gives me some space for a bit of homebrew modification
:D

Hi,

I think the three sockets in the glove box are for the central Nav screen. You must have the Nav+ system. Anyway normal connections are 1 video and two audio, so you may be able to get audio into the stereo there.

Poggy.

Hi

The Connectors don't work with the central nav screen, it seems that the aux input selection is locked out in software,

There was mention of this in one version of the owners book, but this seems to have gone in the newer version of the book,

I assume Fiat locked out the input for the screen as it would be breaking UK law to have a video image displayed on the screen which is in view of the driver while the vehicle is in motion,

On some vehicles there is a sensor that shuts of the video to the screen when the car is in motion, so its OK to have a video feed to them, but it looks like there is no such system in place in the connect+ screen so the feature has been disabled.!

No doubt there is a way around it, but just a case of finding it!

Hi Vicky,

Welcome to the forum :)
My, you did seem to get a great bargain there. We too have a 2.2JTD Eleganza, with options, but not as many as yours. Ordered in back in May 2003, received it September [but actually in dealer around mid August]. Ours is in metallic silver - no other colours blew us apart, esp. with choice on interior velour.

How are you finding the rear bench seat? Does this limit your load capacity i.e. 5 seats + luggage or 8 seats little or no luggage. Suppose it all depends on how you need to use the car!

Look forward to hearing about any more tips

Regards

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Most of the time I will use it in a 7 seat configuration, with 2 side seats in the middle row, to allow easy access to the back,

I have not had a need yet to pull out the rear bench for load room, although I may try it in a few days to see how cumbersome a job it is,
as I said earlier I really prefer the Quartz Grey (Silver), over the Green on this car,

I had a couple of paint issues with my previous Silver Ulysse, which Fiat resolved under warranty, but It meant a total repaint of the front wing, drivers side sliding door and drivers side rear panel

The Sliding door (Was a maunal one on that car), was catching on the rear panel at the top and bottom when it closed and had cut through the paint into the panel, also the paint had split away at the groove where the door slides and needed repainting, and the front wing had damage to the paint from new,

So all in almost the whole side of the car was repainted, they did a good job, but repaints always concern me, so that was another reason the Silver Prestigio went a little earlier than it would have normally, !

Hi,

That is interesting about the doors - we didn't go for the electric option [Am I the only one out there to have manual doors?] - I will def keep an eye on that!

Good idea about the 2+2+3 configuration - similar to a Voyager. What we do on long trips [we have a 3yo and 9mo] is to fold both the rear seats onto one runner, leaving an L shaped load area. This means we can fit in all our junk, and then once unpacked at destination revert back to a 7 seater! The missus tends to sit in the middle centre seat, to give her leg room and to tend to kids, leaving front passenger pulled forward for additional rear room. All fun n games!

Hi,

I saw an auction on E-Bay and it looked like your car, have you decided to sell it already. Mind you for the price you paid, you should make a nice profit.

Good luck with the auction.

Hi

I am going away in 10 days for 6 weeks! work always catches me just after I get a new toy!,

So I figured I would see if I could make a quick £1000 on it before I went, if not I will garage it up and play with it when I get back

Victoria

Hi,

I would hope you would make more than a £1K profit. If I didn't have mine I would have bought it off you for £14K.

I sold my 5 series BMW on E-Bay rather than doing a part ex as the value was so close to the new price of the Fiat they wouldn't give me a good price for it (even though it was almost 3 years old). It is a great way to sell a car.

Now if you had mud flaps, it would be worth big money !!!!!!!

Hi,

What happened with the auction? The reserve was met this morning on your Ulysse, but now has been terminated by yourself - seemed to be going quite well on the bid front as well.

Must have been the mud flaps!
