:bang: just bought a 2.2ulysse, and well pleased with it, until i lifted the kids from school, and one of them reached over and opened the rear sliding door, (not electric), i read the manual, and the book says they close automatically after the cars reached 10kmp, but mine done, so am i overlooking something, or are they faulty, i can lock them from the from but really dont want to have to depend on the driver remembering, i would like some kind of fail safe, any help guys please...

Hi there, and welcome to the forum :D

Glad you are enjoying the 2.2JTD - it is what the wife uses on the school run daily, usually with 6 kids in it [not all ours ;)].

We too have the non-electric doors - have you tried activating the child-safety switch, situated on the drivers door console? Also, we set our doors to automatically lock once the car sets off [just hold in the lock button in the roof console, until you hear a beep - do the same to cancel].

Don't have the manual in front of me, but I think I recall reading that there was a manual, mechanical child-lock feature on the back doors as well as the electro-mechanical switch. I've been quite happy to use the driver's door console switch.

Did u get your Ulysse cheap since you were told FIAT had pulled the plug on them?

My "local" dealer phoned me today to try to persuade me to buy a new car - I asked them about the Ulysse position, they told me they'd find out and get back to me.

The car is met blue done 51k with full fsh, cam belt changed at 50, 4xnew tyres, and in decent shape, couple of small marks if ur really fussy, i bid a guy from London, outside ebay auction listing, and he was happy to close the auction for 8100.00, so take the fact that is fully loaded with the phone multimedia text mesaage facility, cruise, e/w all round, etc, etc, i am happy enough,,, back to the opening door, i recon there must be a fault, as the button on the roof dos'nt operate the safety function, but the drivers door option works ok, as for mech child locks, thre are none,,,i checked, can you run me by the procedure for trying the roof method again,,,cheers guys,,

I think it works in the following way, the roof mounted button allows you to lock/unlock the doors so that they can't be opened from the outside. It will not stop you from opening the doors from the inside. The auto lock function is activated by having the key in the ignition and holding the button until the RT3 display says "auto locking activated", or something close to that. To de-select it you use the same procedure.

The child lock facility which stops kids opening the door from the inside is activated from the driver door panel. When the button is down, the rear doors cannot be opened from inside, it also stops the window controls in the rear. When you select/deselect the switch you should get a warning on the RT3 display "child protection" and you will hear a clunk from the rear as the child locks engage.

Good luck with it.

Thanks for the reply, i was right then, i think there is a fault with mine, the doors lock with the switch on the drivers door, but the auto lock system, wont do anything when i press the button, followed the manual, and your info is spot, but, as i say, there must be a grelmin in the works, thenks for the info guys,,,

Poggy,

I will try that auto-locking activated thing. I don't remember that in the manual! Another undocumented feature. I lurve these cars....

Does anyone else find the auto-wiper function always resets? i.e. you have to down click one on the stalk and then go back up one to re-activate every time you start up?

Yes, the auto wipers are a bit useless to be honest.
