I have a number of red lines runnng thru the passenger rear most window, they do not as I though demist the windows when MAX-def button is on - or don't seem to.
Anyone explain what they are
Also last couple of evenings it took a long time to demist my front windscreen with the MAxdef button, even after 5 mins only 1/3 from the buttom had demisted and after 15 mins still left top 6" demisted. Is there other settings to demist more quickly.

HI,

I think it is the radio aerial, the one on the roof looks like a GSM aerial.

If you have a diesel car it is possible that your supplementary heater is not working. Does the engine warm up quickly or not.

Yes, def radio aerial. Was told this by the guy who fitted in the tinted windows - he sees them all the time on Mercs, Voyagers, etc.

Never noticed the MAX-Def being slow - it seems to demist really quick for us. We have got 2.2 JTD - does that make a difference? Even when you put climate control on to 28 both sides, warm within minutes.... As Poggy said, check the supplementary heater, it doesn't look like it is fully working.

I too have had exactly the same as Stubie. The supplementary heater mentioned above is this the same one that is referred to in another section regarding a timer and the car warming up with the engine off or are we talking about another one? Iv'e only had my car a week so I am still experimenting but does the MAX/DEF not set all the parameters itself or does one have to set the temperature to 28 to get the best demisting out of it?

Hi,

Couple of points there!

Easy one - Max-def sets all the parameters itself - I think it directs air onto the windscreen, and switches on rear demister as well.

I made the comment about 28 all round, to show you that my car warms up pretty quick i.e. my heater is working.

Finally, the supplementary heater can have extra bits fitted to it [at a cost of £400] to enable this heater to come on, say, 30 mins before you start the car, to allow all the demisting to be done for you - may sound dear, but come those deep freezes in Jan/Feb, I am tempted!

Did you know on the climate control that if you set the drivers temp and keep your finger on the + or - button, the passenger side defaults to same temp! I used to use both fingers to get same result, but found this by accident. Also, temp differential max of 5 degrees, but drivers side prevails, and come override passenger; passenger cannot override driver! Live and learn...
