I'm guessing but a lot of Fiat group cars use a 8mm allen key, you can use a 8mm brake tool.

I bought one from motor factors for £2.95.

I thought a 15mm size but do not want to guess and buy from halfords to find its useless, no one seems to know for certain

sorry I meant 12mm not 15, thats what most fiat owners seem to refer to? where do you get the replacement crush washers from as I went to 2 branches of halfords and could not find any

I think the washers are dealer parts. Let us know what size the allen key is when you get it.

I will let you know, I might even try putting a socket set on it as there is a large hexagon shaped nut maybe it can be undone with a drain key or a spanner what do you think?

I got the plug off using a 21mm socket. had a bit of a job getting the filter off as they are a bit awkward to get a good grip on, besides spilling oil when refilling I was pleased with the fact that I could do all of it without having to Jack the car up.

Thanks for everyones advice.
