On my 97 2.0 EL the rear washer has packed up.Somewhere I have seen a one way valve being the culprit and it being located under the cars rear seats and hard to locate. Can anyone say precisely where it is and can it be got at by lying under the car without jacking it up?:(

You can only get to it internally:(

It's located under the carpet underneath the offside rearmost seat. You will have to lift the corner of the carpet to get to it. I have a 2000 EL and replace this valve once a year on average:bang:

Never had this problem in my three years of owning a 2.0s on a P plate. The only problem with the rear washer is the arm sticks now and again. Which when left on and budged it starts again and seems ok for a few months

Can you use a Halfords replacement valve or is it a weird size / shape and therefore needs a Fiat one?

PS I have been looking for this valve for ages and thought it was near the front reservoir so many many thanks for this info:)

My rear wiper wasn't working when I bought ours - I replaced a small connector which was located in one of the hatches in the boot - on the drivers side. I thought this might have been the non-return valve but it didn't fix the problem. In the end I took the wiper unit apart and found loads of gunk in the actual jets that spray on to the window, cleaned them out with a piece of wire and it worked.
