hi all

my ulysse's a three sun-roof version. The roof pad panelling therefore has three openings rendering it rather "floppy" especially if it is not firmly mounted.

my problem? well, everytime i run over poorly surfaced and bumpy roads, the roof pad, especially around the middle sunroof (i.e. the most easily rattled part?) start to flap about which consequently produce an irritating noise in the cabin.

i thought of using a double sided tape to fix the panel to the roof metal section but has yet to try it. am not sure if it'll work tho'. Anybody out there having successfully dealt with the same problem? would appreciate any useful pointers...

regards

Hi,

Mine had exactly the same problem. The roof trim around the 2nd and 3rd sunroofs was hanging down and rattles. I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. They actually made a really good job of it as well. In mine the control boxes were loose as well.

I wouldn't mess around yourself, it is a new car and they should fix it. Out of interest how much do they cost in Malasyia for the car you have (in US dollares would be easiest) just to compare with the UK.

Still haven't got my heated seat fixed though.

Hi all,
Got the same problem with the sun-roof. Brought it back to the dealer 3 times, problem recur after a while. Anyway for poggy if you want to know I got mine at around usd 36,700 (special introductory price) actual price usd 40,800. The price was quoted by the dealer. The thing is with the price we in Malaysia lost in not be able to use the nav and the connect function. Maybe we are tooooo far from Milan to use it.
By the way Poggy you can have my heated seat.... it's too hot in Malaysia to use it anyway ha ha ha .....

Hi,

We use the heated seat in England to defrost the ice on it in the morning. I know the diesel cars have an extra electric heater in the climate control as they take a long time to warm up.

My Land Rover Freelander had a Webasto diesel fuelled heater in it. You could set a time and the car would heat up automatically without the engine running. Great in winter, you could see it defrost from in the house.

Hi

The price sounds about the same, I paid £19,245.00 on the road for a UK supplied 2.0 eleganza automatic with metallic paint, 3 sunroofs, electric seat pack, 16" wheels, electric doors, rear blinds & super visibility pack.

hey guys,

first of all I'm really pleased that you ppl in the UK took the trouble to respond to a malaysian posting. truly international this forum![8D] thanx to romulan too, my closer to home mate!

as for pricing, yup, its about 20k pounds sterling (~USD 35k--->on offer mind you, as romulan noted earlier).:) More or less the eleganza spec...no electric rear doors (i prefer it that way) and no electric adjust front seats. all else are generally great otherwise.

another thing, watched the rugby world cup final live telecast earlier 2day. congrats to you english guys for clinching it in what surely is one nailbiting encounter!:D wilko certainly made the difference.

back to the roof panel issue at hand, i'll try taking it to the KL (Malaysian) dealer and see if they can do anything about it. Hope to have more luck than romulan...on a wing and a prayer that is!

cheers now, seasons greetings, many happy returns for the new year and happy hols (I know, its a little premature, but just in case i forget, you see)...:D

Hi,

Malasyia or England it makes no difference, it's even more interesting when you hear about peoples experiences from overseas.

The list of features I put on my post are all extras to the Eleganza spec in the UK. I like gadgets which is why I bought them. Out of interest the list price was about £23,000++ for my spec car but I bought via a broker called Melbury Motor Company, the car actually came from a Fiat dealer about 40 miles away. The local dealer wouldn't give me much discount.

I think all the sun roofs have the loose trim, the dealer didn't seem surprised when I bought it back to be repaired. The trim seemed to just be held up by double sided tape, not even thick pads. Whatever the dealer did worked and it looks really good now.

Good luck with the repair.
