OK seeing you oil burners comparing mpg. I thought I would test mine:)

First of all just as I was coming onto Inverness the petrol warning light came on. Went and got loads of shopping from Tesco's(well wife did!) so I could get the extra 5p of a litre(y) I wish someone had told me the tank on the Ulysse holds 80litres:( The full tank lasted two weeks  but we did 409miles.

When filled up again it took 67.82 litres which = 14.9 gallons.
therefore 409/14.9 = 27.45mpg

Bearing in mind I have a roof rack which causes some drag, the car as said before has the aerodynamics of a house brick, the car has over 100000 miles on the clock, and my driving style does not = most economical style:eek:. I don't think that 27.45mpg is too bad. I am testing again and might take roof racks off;)

Anyone else tried testing with a mk1 petrol?

Also what readings for rev's does everyone get at 60mph? I get a reading of 2700ish and at 3000 rev's I am doing 67mph.

Hi
I was checking my Ulysse over time but the figures are in my car which is still in the repair center having all the locks changed etc. Does it take 9 days to change the locks? When I check my speedo against the GPS I have to be doing 77mph on the clock to be actually traveling at 70.

When I get it back I will reply.

Apart from the school run which I keep telling the wife and kids to walk!!!! Most of the driving is on the A9 north of Inverness. Depending how many cars/lorries I have to overtake it is a steady 60mph ish

Two minutes to wreck a lock. 9 days to fix it?:chin:
Are they having problems sourcing the parts?

Hi Donaldmaclennan

I think the trouble is FIAT, the repair centre is waiting for the new codes! to be sent. I will update when/if I get it back.

cheers

Done the brim to brim test twice more with 29.9mpg and 25.8mpg(short test)
overall result so far 29.9 + 25.8 + 27.45 = 83.15 divide by 3 gives an average of 27.72mpg. I am quite happy about that:)

yup 30 mpg is about what we get with our 2.0 1996 ulysse not bad its usualy filled with kids and dogs :D

our pride and joy well when the dreded idel control valve behaves

At last the Ulysse is back from the repair centre, only 3 weeks!!! and guess what! the doors lock then unlock when using the remote and I have to lock them with the key..... and I can't get into the glove box. I will be taking it to the FIAT garage at Kegworth for a service so I will have them take a look. Unless anyone on the forum knows how to cure the problem!

My glove box occasionally won't open, even though it's unlocked. I find that a few miles driving shakes it back again and I can open it. Alternatively a thump near the top may work.
I think there's enough play for the latch/lock to get slightly out of alignment.

Further to my last post, the 'fitter' had pushed the door lock latch (the one that locks the door from inside) to far down so the door never fully locked. I refitted it properly. The reason the glove box wouldn't open is because they glued it shut!!! In changing the lock they forced the door apart to get at the inside then glued it shut , unfortunately the glue ran down inside and held the sliding catch shut.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean Jules pretends shes a taxi - my main mode of transport is a 2.4 petrol :slayer:

She is a taxi for the kids, I think you secretly prefer the Ulysse really :)

Sunroof motors need replacing on the Ulysse it seems, the auto close/open function is not working properly (never has from new) so I thought I would get it fixed while under warranty. Reported it just before the end of the 2nd year and am still waiting for the parts and for a new seat base on the drivers side.

I've had a 2.0e s reg for 6 yrs now.got 100000 on the clock and last week on the trip throught France managed a high 39mpg- no roof box but plenty of autoroute and steady60-80 mph. Last time it was this good was around Norfolk when we managed same as the official figures of 38.5mpg.
Ski trips to France with a 2m roof box, six up,about 75 stone total,33mpg over 1800 miles-not bad eh.
All is not rosy though - with the Abbey Piper on the back this crumbles to 20mpg (1500kg limit for towing on this) .Why buy diesel .-my last peugeot 505 always did 27mpg with its 2.5 diesel smelly lump, caravan or not!
