I have a 54 reg fiat ulysse and the car has had a problem with the central locking since I bought it.

Basically, when ever I unlock the car, the car opens fine but when I physically open either of the front two doors all of the other doors lock automatically.

The car then thinks I've locked it, I then have to push the open button on the remote to reopen all the doors. But as soon as one of the front doors are opened again all the doors lock once again.

Very strange, not sure where to start looking.

Anyone had this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

So you are saying :- You press the key fob to unlock doors and then You pull either of the 2 front door handles to open the doors?

The doors are supposed to auto lock after 30 seconds or so if unlocked with the fob and no door is opened.

Is yours locking as soon as you pull the handle or as the door opens?

As soon as I pull the handle to open either of the front two doors the rest of the car locks up.

The 30 second timer does not initiate the locking, the pulling of the handle on the front doors does.

Thanks

If I use either of the sliding doors, this does not cause the others to lock.

The problem only occurs when opening the front two doors.

The best thing to try first is the physical lock instead of the key fob on both doors and see if it works.

If no different try different front doors off a donor starting with the driver's door.

Hi

I've tried it with the key alone And have had the same result. I don't have access to a donor door to try with, any other suggestions?

I'm wondering if I should try and get a replacement control unit and try that, would that be an option? Or to get the solonoids for both front doors and try changing them?

I'm not sure where the control unit is though...

Would be grateful for any help with this.

Thanks

Unlock the car then disconnect the battery, leave it for a day if possible then reconnect and lock, see if it still does it, think it was a rover 400 that had this problem, it cured it.
Worth a try? No money spent just time. . .

Hi I've tried this. And it has not worked...

Although I missed out leaving it unlocked. It's just that I don't have a secure place to leave it unlocked overnight.

Does the unlocked bit matter?

Thanks

It must be something to door with one of the door catches as they also have sensors in them.

I would suggest starting with these, driver's side first (that's why I suggested bolting on another door).

I have loads of these if you are anywhere near Lincolnshire.
