Technical RT3 Help / Advice

Some good news to report - I now have functioning Navigation so now it all works :). I persisted with testing the seemingly faulty CD drive in the RT3 and found that it was indeed duff. Having tried Pavlek.de and several UK options without any joy I chanced upon a chap called Jurjen at www.navigatie-onderdelen.nl in Holland who was very helpful and thought that he could repair it. So I sent over the CD drive only and it came back today (within the week) and at less than the price quoted. Having put it back together tonight and fitted it back in the van it is all working perfectly.
So questions now please gentleman, I have a Telematique disc V5.31 and a Map Disc of Autumn/Winter 2002. Is there a benefit to updating the Telematique version and is there any risk of upsetting my newly functional unit? (I am not into MP3's, I have a cd stack) so I am already miles better off than I was three weeks ago thanks to Cliky's inspiration. There is obviously a benefit to updating the maps but presumably my existing V5.31 will limit how far I can go.

one of the benefits of the 2012 map and the update to 5.5D that I've noticed is that it gives updates to road conjestions which have been useful on days out/holidays.

Wont hurt to update. What did it cost you in total and do you know if he replaced the laser or just tweaked it?

The invoice from from Jurjen was about £107.00 including his shipping back to me but excluding my postage to him and it was a complete top drive section incorporating the Laser because he shipped back my old corresponding part including the old Laser with the repaired unit.
I am not doing to well tracking down a better Telematics version than I have, I found a v5.41 but that is all so far.
If I understand your last post correctly then your V5.5 (D??) will drive quite late map CDs which on an advert I found for a later map version disc advertised on German Ebay seemed to suggest was not possible - am I understanding that correctly?
Any luck with your Lexia yet, and thanks for any guidance.

DELDAN:

I have a Version 5.5D CD and an .iso image of it on my PC. If you PM me with your email address I should be able to send the iso file to you as an attachment. Using the program "ImgBurn", or similar, you can burn the iso file to a CD to create your own copy of V5.5D to load into your RT3.

I have not used the PM facility on this forum but I think it is accessed by clicking on "User CP" at the top of the page.

I also have a copy of v5.95 if you need it!

just been quoted £75+vat for repair (new lcd screen fitted to my old system ) by cluster. is this a good deal please ? thanks

Was the quote from "cluster repairs"? They quoted me about £125, from memory. £75 is a good price. A new Rt3 screen (cheapest from Peugeot for some reason) would cost a bit less than £400...

CLUSTER PHONED TODAY TO SAY "SCREEN HAS FAILED UNREPAIRABLE"
THANKS. :bang:

Sorry to hear that. No doubt they'll charge for the inspection? What was visible on your screen before sending it off? In our case it was readable but with quite a lot of vertical black lines.

Ours was unreadable, they charged for return postage only. As i paid to post it to them. Just bought one from a new listing on fleabay. They are breaking the whole car, so 1 phone call to ask and being posted out sat, so will keep you posted as to progress . Do i just plug back in and thats it? Also i dont know what version of software i have, on the back of the cover for the navtech cd rom it says spring/summer 2002, do i need to update any of this? Any help would be appreceiated, thank you all in advance

You'll need to run the 'telematics' disc to sync the screen with the RT unit.

I have discs available if you need one.

THAT WOULD BE GREAT , THANKS . HOW DO I CONTACT YOU WITH MY ADDRESS? AS I DONT KNOW HOW TO PM PEOPLE AS YET .:worship:

Hi im going to try the conversation and would like some help, i have a 04 eleganza with the connect + n1 fitted i have the screen from a prestigio but the n3

To continue my last post, the n3 was removed and the multi plug was cut off. Do i need the loom in full or can i use what is left of the loom. I hope to get the n3 at a breakers soon.

You just need the optical cable and about 9" of cable cut from the screen connector.

A few Eleganza owners have changed to the colour screen on the EV2 Facebook page.

Thanks fran do you know what wires I have to join together or where I can get a diagram of the process
