Well what can i say JOB DONE:):):):):)!
4hrs inc reprogramming the radio and updating!!

I'm gonna do a thread on the full procedure later on But heres some pics Before during and after!!

Before:

During:

first test: ooops! wired wrong!

second test:

After:

I purposely left the Audio/video Input 'slave socket' loose for now until i decide where I'm gonna put it.

Next stage is screen mod to allow permanent video feed when in motion (thinking of a rear camera in place of rear view mirror)!!

also updated software to v5.95 and coded the radio.

Would of been a quicker job if I'd got the wiring right first time!!

Nice one! The splash screen must be generated by the bsi then?
Did your lexia find the VIN ?

Yep found vin although did have some trouble at first and ended up inputting it manually then also had a 'wiggle' of the OBD2 connector and that sorted it out!

Now it recognizes it every time i plug lexia in!
eventually worked out how to reprogram the RT3.

Cleared a load of the 'Faults' too whilst i was in there.

Need a set of reversing sensors (and cables) now! you got any franc?

Loads! It's usually a radar sensor that has failed if they are not working, get someone to sit in the car with the clutch down whilst in reverse and then touch or stick your ear on each sensor and find the one that isn't buzzing.

They take minutes to replace.

Did you have to put in a conformation code in order to program the bsi?

No code needed (presume you mean for RT3). allowed me to input the new vin and hey presto!

I need all sensors and buzzer/speaker as mine have been removed (looks like a minor rear end prang previously and someone replaced rear bumper with a 'non sensored' one and just cut the wires!

BSI shows it fitted and have phsically shecked the units there.
BSI reports short circuits on all sensors and speaker!

Sometimes you need a code to make changes to the bsi, the dealers have access to them but it can be difficult for the DIYer to get hold of them.

Have you got the parking sensor ecu? It would be better to replace the whole bumper if it hasn't got the holes for the sensor, whereabouts are you? Better to continue in PM in order to not spam the thread. Cheers, Franc

Well done lads particularly CLIKY (Chris) what a positive result and a great thread and if nothing else I can print out his screen shots and stick them on to my non functioning unit to give me the illusion of Chris’s success.

I have an 03 2.0JTD Ulysee that I bought earlier in the year and on which most stuff was working when I picked it up even the CONNECT system. The full colour screen RT3-N3-02 was sort of working but seem a bit erratic and in particular if I asked for an address it told me the ‘disk was not present’ when it was, so in my wisdom I did a soft reset of holding in the ‘Menu’ or ‘Dark’ key I forget which and that was the end of that. It just sits there now cycling with the FIAT logo screen showing and rebooting regularly with the little orange light on the top left showing periodically.

I suspected (because of the original ‘disc’message) that the cd drive was faulty and so DIGGER58, I found PAVLEK.DE and tried to make contact in English, translated English and then in German written for me by a native, all with zero response, so I guess they are either defunct or don’t want to deal with the UK. I have had no joy finding other repairers either although I found this 'Mediancenter-Hannover.de' but they are not cheap.

However I am now inspired to have another go to get it back working (unless the CD drive is faulty). So a couple of question, which of the Lexia packs should I get (because non of them mention FIAT so far as I can see) although as it is the native unit for the vehicle I probably should not need it, but it seems to have a lot of other uses anyway. Also according to what else I read there seems to be a very precise sequence to loading the software, did you have a problem with this Chris and have you a guide or any hints? I have the original Great Britain and Ireland 2002 Nav CD and the MagMar v5.31 CD Software disc which presumably is all that I need to reset it.

Thanks all again.

Danny

(as i understand it) your first problem will be your software! once a software version has been written you can only rewrite it with a newer version.

(I have v5.4{original} V5.95[copy])

I would suggest having a go with v5.4 so if it fails you have the option of then using 5.5 or later.

Check your CD unit by putting an audio disc in and see if it plays, it should auto play once disc inserted (if it does then cd is ok!) make sure it's an original disc as 5.31 won't play copies or MP3's either.

It's also worth checking the connections to the RT3 especially the fibre optic cable (although if your getting the FIAT screen it would suggest they're ok)

If you need copies of 5.4 or 5.95 pm me and i'll try and upload them somewhere (once i get home on Mon).

Frantic Franc if you happen to read this i'll see you sun.

As far as Lexia is concerned you'd need this kit:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXIA-3-PEUGEOT-CITREON-DIAGNOSTIC-INTERFACE-PP2000-CAN-BUS-DIAGBOX-V7-V48-V25-/171148776876?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item27d94315ac

plus a laptop running windows 95.

Thanks for the quick response that saved a lot of time trying to load the 5.31 again. I will get the unit back into the car and try a normal cd as a starter to eliminate or prove the drive although I did not mention that it has a stacker on the floor which is why I guess I had not thought of putting a music CD in the main unit but I guess it should still play it. I will go through the connections again and sort out an old laptop and let you know how I get on. Thanks for your time.

lexia is supposed to run on all operating systems as long as they are 32bit. I run mine on Vista.

Looking forward to trying Clicky's lappy though with my interface and vice versa to see why I can't read 03 eurovans2's

You could always try one of those CD cleaners if your reader is just spinning or stating "no disk inserted", could do with finding someone who can replace the lasers in these units as most are 10 years old and reaching the end if their lifespan.

Thanks for the thought FF, I will put the unit back in the car and try a music CD and perhaps a cleaner CD I am sure I have one somewhere and report back. Look forward to hearing how the laptop experiment goes as the oldest one I have is only Win98

Any news yet DELDAN?

Any news yet DELDAN?
Hi Cliky - yes a successful weekend thanks for asking and here is where I am at now.
I have been unlocking the radio from the housing pulling it forward and as soon as they are reachable - disconnecting the plugs. This time with more thought I decided to work downwards, so I pulled off the trinket tray and the air ducts which gave me sight of the back of the radio - and I found disconnected the Fibre optic cable, as you had previously suggested, which had come out of the multi plug housing.
Although I have had at all times the blue screen and the Fiat logo displayed, connecting the fibre cable immediately gave me a display much better than I had seen for the brief time I had it working after I bought the car and with all the functionality so far as I can see. I have played with it today and the orange light has stopped pulsing the radio stays tuned and the CD stacker works.
One other possible factor is that the unit has been off the car for so long it was totally flat in that the date and time were all zeroed and I have seen a suggestion that this in itself can unscramble a confused unit
However after testing I still have the original problem in that the integrated CD Drive will not read or play a CD of any type (music or map) and therefore the Navigation function is inoperable.
I then carefully took the RT3 apart and gained access to the CD Drive and the laser lens and cleaned it up and then connected it back up to the car whilst disassembled to see what went on in the drive. The disc is quite happily sucked in and it starts to spin but only slowly and a bit spasmodically not picking up speed as I would expect. Pressing the SOURCE button on the unit only cycles between RADIO and STACKER and not the CD that presumably should be included and perhaps indicates that it is US.
I have all the model numbers for the CD which is a Phillips unit and seemingly is not easy to come by anymore. I have found a couple of possible's on the NET and have sent off an info request and I will let you know what comes of it.
However for the moment I am very happy and grateful for your success which pushed me into having another go. I now have lots of functions (and music) that I have been without for 6 months and if push comes to shove and I can stay with what I have now and use a TomTom but I will try to resolve it if I can find the parts or someone who can repair this unit.
Regarding the Lexia/PP2000 kit, did you manage to get a Win 95 PC that matched his stated minimum spec of memory and processor speed, if not what has yours got in the way of spec and which is presumably running it quite well from what you say?

Well I learnt something new today, customer with a very low mileage Prestigio popped around today with colour sat nave screen stuck on Fiat splash screen. Thought it would be an easy fix predicting optic cable fallen out.

It wasn't! His screen was faulty as a replacement C8 worked perfectly. Conclusion was that the large gps circuit board on the back must be faulty, swapped them over a few times to make certain.

2 problems though....

1. splash screen stayed Citroen, despite running the 5.95 update disk. Couldn't get lexia to talk to bsi (yes it was another 03 model!!) to play with the settings.

2. His low mileage of 30,000 miles jumped to 192,000, assuming the donor car's original mileage! So the mileage is stored in the clocks! Tried original clocks but mileage stayed the same, so probably a security feature to stop people "clocking" their cars, it can only update to a higher mileage but not lower.

What are the model numbers for the Phillips CD etc?

Yes got a lappy of ebay for £29=00 and a PSU for £6=00 and installed W95 myself.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350903264155?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

So for £35 I got a lappy way above the spec required for lexia/pp200 software.
taking into account lappy and software etc i got the complete system for less than a diagnostic reading at my local fiat and i get to play!:)

If the fibre dropped out there would be no screen logo/pic at all!

what s/w was already installed? if 5.95 already installed then it won't overwrite as i understand the process! (although having said that my screen was from a pug and changed over to fiat as soon as fitted which suggests it gets info from BSI.

If memory serves me correct milage is held by the steering wheel clock and the BSI if there is a discrepancy between the 2 then the higher always provails. only way to change it is with the specific software. (can't remember the software name at the mo but think i might have it?)

The CD Drive is Model CDM-M3 4.7/3, and I have now found someone who says they can repair it but not in the UK so far.

Thanks for the info on the Laptop, I will check again. Where I was probably going wrong was looking for a Win95 Laptop as opposed to looking for a suitable Laptop to put Win95 on. That said the vendor of the Lexia/PP kit you pointed me at says it will run on anything, but I am with you, on S/W this old it would probably be safer not to try and get too quick.

Did you and Frantic solve the mystery of why your respective Lexia kits are not quite as compatible as each other, and more particularly why his won't talk to 03 vehicles?

With regard to your first point to Frantic about the splash screen. For some reason I do not understand, I had the Fiat splash screen all the time the unit was not working but not until I refitted the fibre did I get all the useful stuff back?

Software was really old, he's owned car from new and never updated it we read it beforehand but I don't recall exactly what it was.

Possibly a bsi reboot may be the answer to his splash screen, mileage changing was a surprise though.

My lexia is really screwed up now though as it won't even read my vin anymore, easydiagnostics have a new update for me to try and hopefully it may get it working again.

So screen is sold, cabling is sold, just leaves the RT3 N3 up for grabs now if anyone is interested otherwise onto eBay it goes!

Thought I'd post the wiring loom just in case anyone was wondering!!

The RT3 N3 part of the loom is pictured centre-front.

Come on clicky we're all dying to see your tutorial.

p.s. Still having trouble with my Lexia!! Going to try the 7.24 update and see if it helps.

I think the splash screen is stored in the clocks unit but because clickys says " Fiat " it can only mean one of two things, either it was a Fiat clock all along (fitted to the pug donor) or the bsi rewrites the splash screen when the unit is paired to the RT3?!
