I think some on this forum have had their DPF deleted (de-FAP). Could you tell me by who and how much? Seems a bit of a rip off is going on - I was just quoted £499 for the job this morning... We're not far from Gatwick Airport. TIA!

I contacted him - 1st quote was £250. So I asked "does this include taking the filter material out?" He replied today: "No it does not include the clearing out of the dpf, as we have done the Peugeot/Citroen versions of these and have found that the exhaust is more like a cat then a dpf and all that all it needs is to alter the software to ignore so called dpf and egr and all is well. If the exhaust needs emptying then we can do that for at most another £150."
This, of course, is nonsense. The filter will still be there and will clog, possibly damaging the turbo, etc.

Some people with other models of Peugeot/Citroen vehicles fitted with the FAP system have removed the DPF, drilled a number of large holes through the DPF honeycomb and then replaced it. This procedure, plus 'de-fapping' the software seems to be effective.

Yes, that's a good plan. But how come "Tony" thinks leaving the DPF honeycomb in place will be ok? As you know, the CAT is bolted to and directly in front of the DPF. Is that why he's confused? I'm not about to challenge him, I'm looking elsewhere!

Thanks, but sadly, available within 75 miles from Hull. I'm in Surrey. Great price, but it does seem that it's much cheaper "oop North"! It does say contact us for prices outside this area, so I will...

if tony says "more like a cat then a dpf" he is probably meaning they dont get blocked like cats dont get blocked? and trying to save you money. there is no regen for cats, has anyone with a Ulysse on here ever had a dpf block?

He is well respected in the field red dot use him when they need maps written.

there is also a rolling road at his workshop if you want a before and after readout

Hi all, I need to get my car de-FAPped (?), but live in Cheshire and don't fancy the long drive either. Anybody know of someone nearer to me? Any help appreciated.

Happy New Year all!

Cheers
Dave

Dave, you are a star.
So if I had the work done then basically my car would have failed the MOT test unless I had it re-fitted?
Unfortunately I don't drive a lot of miles. What do people suggest, take the car out once a week for a bit of a drive? But is there an alternative or best solution? I've read on here that you need to keep the car over 4000 revs for a few minutes, that correct?

I hope this information helps anyone else and hopefully won't affect too many people who have already had the work done. Nice find Dave.

Cheers
Dave - a different one lol ;-)

Cheers Dave, but I couldn't see Fiat Ulysse under supported vehicles, is it under something else?

Cheers

Well I took it for a spin, obviously in limp mode because I couldn't get over 3000 revs, but quickly dropped to 2nd whenever I could which forced it over 4000 rev briefly. Did some shopping and when I went home the engine management light had gone off and everything seemed back to normal. Just kept in a lower gear gear for most of the journey back to keep the revs up and make sure I'd done enough to force the regen.
Thanks for help guys.

The Lexia software has a regenerate programme in it.
If you continue to have problems with it your welcome to come round and I'll run the regen program for ya (I live in Heywood Nr. Manchester) however I'm away from 16th jan - 8/9 feb.

Thanks Cliky, I will remember that if if happens far too often. It's not that I don't mind going for a longer journey now and then, but is there some sort of info on how often this should normally be done / what's more than normal etc? Anyone else only really drive around town and has to take a trip out once in a while?
Cheers
Dave
