Hello all,

I have a 1996, 8V, 2.0L S Petrol, Manual, Fiat Ulysse and I am losing engine oil through the inner (rear) Crank Shaft Oil Seal.

I would like to change the inner and other CrankShaft Oil Seals. The issue is that I do not normally do my own car, and have been looking for a dummies guide on how to change them. Would I need to buy any other parts to replace too?

Does the engine need to come out? Does it need the bottom half strippedn but can be done with engine in? Does the gearbox need to be seperated for the engine? Why are no guides on anything related to a Fiat Ulysse on here? :)

I know there will be some thinking that if you have to ask this, then you0 shouldn't be doing it. But I really do not have a choice.

Many thanks for all helpfull and patient replies received.

Anyone, please?

While I'm here, any ideas as to where I can purchase new piston rings, oil pump, and tappets and the cups that they go in please?

I have been searching for hours, but to no avail. :(

Hi Welsh wizard,Can't really help with location of parts, except to suggest ringing an engine reconditioner and ask them if they will sell you the parts. As regards the rear main oil seal, the clutch and flywheel will have to be removed, which means separating the gearbox from the engine and if you want to change the front seal as well then I would suggest removing the engine and then you will have access to all the jobs you want to do,easier option I feel.Good luck with it.
