Hello.
As I have a large family....I decided to buy a seven seater. And i bought the Fiat Ulysse 2003 2.0 Petrol. I really like the car. It is spacious. Of course you can tell the quality inside is not amazing but it is perfect for a family car.
I bought it few days ago to a dealership with 3 months warranty. The car is the petrol 2.0. It has 78000 miles, and cambelt changed at 69000. Full service history.
Here are the questions:
1// I read a lot about cambelt failure especially on JTD diesel. As the cambelt has been changed with 69000 when do i have to change the cambelt again.
2// I read a lot about the ESP antipollution loss of power trouble. But all the messages i read are about the JTD or HDI (citroen, peugeot). Does it affect also the petrol? If it happens, what do I have to expect while driving and how much would cost to repair.
3// What are most comun problem in the petrol model?

I read not very good things on the JTD and HDI but the few comments on the petrol I read were all very good.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Henry

We have a 2004 petrol ulysse so far been very reliable touch wood.

Answers to your questions

1 cambelt is every 72000 miles for the petrol ulysse or every 5 years.

2 We have only had anti-pollution light come on twice no loss of power, we put it down to bad petrol from the supermarkets, only use BP now, so far no more problems.

3 There seems to be very little problems with the petrol ulysse, only one I have heard of is if the aux belt snaps this can take the cambelt out, only heard of two cases.

Our car has 118000 miles on the clock the only problems we have had is as follows

Indicators stopped working this is down to the bulb contacts arcing out inside the fitting and creating a hole, easy repair which I have posted on this forum how to fix.

Anti-pollution light coming on which cleared itself.

Head Light stalks playing up, start the car and lights come on and go off when light switch is turned off, switch light stalk into the on position and lights stay on, common problem on these cars requires a new headlight stalk in the process of fixing ours, have to take steering wheel and air bag off.

Cruise control has stopped working on ours, we are going to leave this as we don`t really use it.

Best of luck with your car enjoy

Hi thanks for the reply.
Te truth...I love the car. So far no problem. I have searched the web for problem with the petrol engine Ulysse or C8 or 807 and nothing really. Only read about trouble with HDi or JTD so I hope it will be ok.
Thanks

We have only had anti-pollution light come on twice no loss of power

anti pollution is a filter under the bonnet not connect to the fuel system

have to take steering wheel and air bag off.

not sure you have to do that much, the radio and cruise stalks are fitted with a clip at the back you push in and remove, are you sure the car doesn't have the auto light's fitted ?

Cruise control has stopped working on ours, we are going to leave this as we don`t really use it.

this may be due to the pollution filter fault flashing up, get the car on a diagnostic's machine everything reset and the cruise will return
