HI, i changed the starter motor on my Ulysse 1.9 TD yesterday and a 8MM socket bit flew into the space where the starter motor come out .
Now my clutch pedal is stuck in the down position and i dare not start the engine:bang:.

Does anyone have any idea how to get it out without taking it to a garage and getting the gearbox taken off and costing the earth....

As it is only a 8mm socket bit, if i tried to start the engine would the flywheel destroy the socket bit or would the socket bit destroy my clutch...

You tried a magnetic grabber?

i did but it has gone down too deep, the car moves freely when in neutral and doesn't move when i select a gear but the clutch is constantly fully depressed so i am thinking the socket bit may be stuck in the fly wheel or in the clutch plate.

could try turning engine by hand see if it drops to bottom of bell housing, then if you are lucky there will be a metal plate on engine side of bottom of gearbox that you can remove to retrieve socket
