Technical A couple of questions??

Morning folks, I just got a couple of questions about the new motor I cought last week. Its a 2l 16v petrol year 2000.

Is it cambelt or chain?
Some of the lights in the instrument binnacle dont work, does the steering wheel need to be removed to get the binnacle out? If so whats the best way to disable the airbag?
Finally non of the courtesy lights come on when you open the doors, whats the likely cause?

Instrument binnacle can be removed without removing the steering wheel, couple of screws to get out, courtesy light could be fuse or switch on door, our 2004 petrol ulysse has a cam-belt sure its the same engine.

I believe it has a cam belt if it is a 2 litre 16 valve engine.

With regard to the interior lights then I have found that when you open the boot the rearmost interior light comes on.
There are no switches on the front doors, nor does it lok like there should be any?
Finally, if you switch the ignition on then all the interior lights will turn on and off via the switches in the roof lining, hence I dont think its a blown fuse.

I checked all the fuses theyre fine.

The interior lights will only work with the ignition switched on.

There are no plungers on the doors or pillars to operate the interior lights when the doors open.
Do you think the interior lights could be programmed to come on when the unlock button on the keyfob is pressed and theres a problem in the programming?
Both keyfobs lock and unlock the doors as they should.
