Driving home today the car had said I had low oil for the first time and then when driving on the motorway the amber engine light lit and lost power and had to pull over.

I am a complete novice on cars AA have brought me home, but the car ticks over. AA man said there is no oil and no compression in the engine.

Anyone any ideas what this maybe or any solutions?

Hi Jon, sorry to hear your tale of woe. Sounds to me as if your piston rings could be gone, causing lack of compression, and causing the engine to burn oil as well. Do you ever notice bluey smoke, especially first thing in the morning or taking off from lights? I hope I`m wrong but I had a similar problem with a renault megane,took £250 to fix it, unfortunately Fiat engines don`t come apart as easily as meganes!! Best of luck, Brian.
