I bought a 2003 Ulysse Eleganza JTD and was very happy with it for 3 weeks, then suddenly it lost power and I could only go 20mph up hills, took it to a local garage who said the particulate filter needed changing, but this had only been changed the year before and they said it may be something more serious causing this problem.
Took the car back to the garage we bought it from and they seemed to fix the problem (we later fund out they had changed the turbo), drove the car away from the garage and after about 20 miles it started to loose power again but not as bad this time. Got it home and then drove again that night and after 18 mile loads of white smoke (no smell) blew out.
To cut a long story short I am now stuck with a car that does not work, has anybody got any ideas please, such as price to fix the car, what the problem may be or should I just scrap it????????????
The car is in immaculate condition but reading previous posts nothing seems to cover power loss and the amount of smoke we had.

Hi, is it a 2.0 or 2.2 diesel? I had something similar with my 2.2, turns out it was a faulty injector, especially when starting in morning, lots of white smoke. I also had a Renault Scenic which every now and then would put out loads of white smoke, then drive ok, it was a sticking piston ring. Is your car using any oil or water? If its any of these, your looking at big money, £1000 plus. Hope you get it sorted, mine has been dragging on for 5 months now.

Thanks for your reply its a 2.0 diesel, and I really hope it doesnt cost that much or its just not worth keeping the car
