Having read some threads on this on the forum can anyone clarify the position on whether or not a pressure sensor should be fitted as standard on the spare?
We have an 03 Ulysse and last year on holiday got caught out having to use the spare and it having no sensor. the spares a full size alloy.
And I asked the dealer as it makes the wheel unsable if you want the pressure protection.
They said it wasn't standard to fit to the spare and we would have to pay lots to have it retro fitted.
Anyone know the offical line?
Thanks

The main issue is I prefer to cycle the spare with the other 4 tyres and then change all 5 as a set. This means I can change tyre make if I want and I don't end up in 10 years with a spare that is unsed but possible nogood due to age.
The lack of a pressure sensor on the spare means I can't do that.
If the spare was a steel thin spare fair enough it's only designed for short use.
But mine is a full size expensive alloy.

I spotted this issue pretty much from new - pointed it out to my local dealer, and after some additional complaining from me, they retro-fitted it for free. Doing it so long after you've taken delivery, I can understand the dealer wanting to charge you - as far as they are concerned, you've long since accepted delivery of the vehicle as it was supplied.

Adding the sensor to the spare also means that you need to get the on-board computer programmed to recognise it, and the car will bitch like mad if you do get a flat, swap the wheel, and then drive around with the deflated spare!!!
