Hi chaps (and chapesses),

MrsP has an R plate Peugeot 806 (Wrong badge, same car) for her sins. Quite regularly, she depresses the clutch pedal and it jams on the floor. She has to pull over and manually pull the pedal back up to restore operation. It'll then be fine for a few days, a week, a month....

It's had a new cable, I've stripped, cleaned and lubricated the pedal box, specifically the pivot bar (I'd rather not do that again ), yet it still happens.

Any ideas?

Hi. Had same problem 3 months ago.
I don't know what model you have but on the 1.9td it IS the clutch cable. It has a self adjusting mechanism and will tend to block with age. It gets more frequent until it'll become a nightmare.

Fixed mine myself with a new clutch cable (about 50 quid!) and took 30 mins. There are two types on 1.9TD so be careful. Easy job on the 1.9TD but I've heard it's more complicated on petrol models.

Good luck.

PS I know a guy who bought a brand new faulty cable!
