My air con was regassed and checked for leaks in May. No leaks were found and all was well. However when the hot weather came it packed up.
The air con chap (who specilises in cars) came round again and could not find any leaks. He checked the gas and it was fine. However the compresser was not clicking on each time the air con was on.
What he then done was to top up the gas slightly which had the effect of the air con compressor kicking in and working fully. For a few days that is until it stopped again! This time warm air temporarily came blowing out.
He belives that the system is not leaking but that the fault may lie with the low gas pressure sensor or a faulty compressor. Failing that it could be a sensor in the system. He did not go hunting for the fault as I've spent enough already on re-gassing etc.
My question is, is there a way that I can by-pass the low gas sensor just for a few minutes to see if the compressor clutch cuts in ?
I have noticed though a low grating type noise coming from the compresser pully area when the engine is at about 1500 rpm, not lower nor higher.
Any advice for checks I can make to find the problem would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Oz.
