Hello Comarades.
The oil pressure warning light has suddenly appeared. I have replaced the oil pressure sensor, but the problem persists.
Would the next step be an oil pump replacement? If so, does anyone know if this is a nasty job for the DIY mechanic, or pretty straightforward?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards...Norms

Thankyou for your suggestion. How would I go about this? Is it something that can be screwed into the oil sensor hole, once the sensor has been removed? If so, is it cheap enough to get hold of one?

Regards....John

I managed to knock up an oil pressure gauge, and it is chucking out 4.5 Bar.Is this about right, does anyone know?

Cheers...John

hello there i have the same sort of problem with my scudo van but dont want to pay the earth to get the oil pressure checked, how did u manage to make an oil presure tester so i could give it a go many thanks dave

I took the old sensor to a local hydralics firm. They identified the thread size, and made up an oil gauge with that same thread, and a flexible stem (as the access to the switch is awful).

It cost me about £38 in total. It may sound pricey, but at least I'm in control of the fiscals, rather than being at the mercy of a garage mechanic.

I hope this helps. Any other queries, please fire away.

Hi Norman,

I a in Southampton: I wonder if I could obtain the same setup from your supplier in Poole, if you could identify them to me?

I had wondered about simply fitting a generic sensor, at a lower pressure value than OE? This is becoming mission critical for me, the light began to flicker two weeks ago in specific, but not adverse, conditions. It is now on the verge of being "on" permanently.
