Thumbs up It's arrived!!!

After being a member of this forum for ages as a fraud I now have a 2.2 JTD Prestigio.

After driving it 5/600 miles ish home it seems great. Love playing with the connect system and some of the other bits. Switched on the auto head lights then discovered you can't switch them off again manually if you want to. It arrived with Xenons yet I didn't order them, may be a cock up or Fiat now fit as standard. 16" wheels arrived but I can't find and reference to pressure monitors on the dash or in the book.

The dealer left a big box in the boot which turns out to the roof bars quoting some crap that they make the car too tall for some car parks and the ferry.....load of cods whollop, I've had an Espace for years with fitted roof bars and every Peugeot I have seen has them fitted I fit in all car parks I wanted to. I think they were too lasy to dig some steps out and fit them.

The Nav is s/w rev 5.4...on a brand new build. Asked the dealer about 5.41 and the workshop gave a blank look. Rang my mate at 90mph he said the phone quality was good but very loud so ended up whispering even at that speed. I'm going to hunt round now to see what else 5.41 offers, the connect never gave any problems but seems very slow when you try to "move map"..........who designed the radio cover so you need a 6 years olds finger to press the down arrow to scroll the map? When I get round to reading the book I may be able to use a column stalk to do it.

The seating is very comfortable and plush....lets see how long light coloured leather stays nice with my monsters.

Just waiting for the connect contract to come back..........needed to sit behind the dealer for some of that!

I think the dealer came away thinking what a smart arse, clear off but when I Knew more about the car and what to look for than he did I have to thank this forum and a bit from the other lot!

The engine is great 6th gear cruise on, arm rest down, point and go.

Got to fit a tow bar next.

Regards

Paul

Congrats, they do seem to have a good rep on here.

Re: It's arrived!!!

Hi Paul,

Glad you are liking it, seems to have taken an age to come...

Interesting about the Xenons - sounds like a nice cock-up to me, because I can't see them being standard.

Pressure monitors only come on when there is a problem - i.e. low pressure, no pressure, etc. Just be careful when you come to change a tyre, you must tell fitter you have monitors on.

Roof bars not fitted? Weird. Their excuse is pretty poor....

Be interesting to see what you think of the Connect - I doubt I will be renewing my contract, tbh.

6th gear must be nice - just come back from Waterford, and averaged about 33mpg over whole trip - I was tanking it in some places, though.

Best to speak to John K about towbars!

Apart from that, look forward to your next 'problem'

Re: It's arrived!!!

My towbar was fitted for free by the dealer because my order took so long to come through (6 months+) - it's not the best available, but it's not a bad one either and it looks to have been fitted well. Because it was done by the dealer before delivery to me though, I had no input into the process (I was just pleased to have been given a free one rather than forking out for it myself).

The connect service is really not worth renewing (but it was fun at first to play with), but the SatNav with colour screen is still pretty good for a factory-fit option and it still has one of the clearest displays I've seen in an in-car system (especially in full screen mode).

It is interesting that it was only delivered with v5.40 software on the RT3 though - I would have thought 5.41 would have been factory fit now?!

Regarding the tyre pressure sensors - check your valve stems. If they are long and rubbery you have normal valves, if they are shorter and metallic you have the sensors. You won't see anything through the displays though unless anything goes wrong (puncture etc). They do work though (I've had them warn me of things twice that I would have otherwise not known about until it would have been too late).

I think regarding the roof bars that teh dealer was either rushed to deliver, or just too lazy. Mine was delivered to the dealer with the roofbars not fitted, but the dealer fitted them before they delivered to me.

I wish I had a 6th gear (I also wish I had a 2.2).

I didn't go for a Prestigio (as it only came in a 6 seat leather option and I needed 7 seats), but the seats are the most comfortable I've had in this sort of car, and after a year I'm still loving them.

Welcome to the club!

Mmmmm had a closer look at the lights and now feel a pillock! They have the hemispherical lenses in the lights just as the Xenons do but lit by an ordinary bulb. I expected clear plastic lens headlights for ordinary bulbs. I think the Xenon units must fit inside the huge housing at the back if you opt for it.

6th gear is ok but do have to make an effort to remember to use it after all these years with only 5!

The roof bars are a bit of engineering as the roof rails in the car are not parallel so when the bars slide backwards and forwards the also move together and apart again. The dealer is going to get the cutting edge of my wisdom on monday!

Did you know the exaust expands about 1cm when it gets hot? I found out after fitting the towbar and going for the first long trip out!! So the bar has got to come off again and get introduced to my angle grinder to stop clandestine meetings with the rear slilencer.

Just about discovered the inner secrets of the car except the overspeed warning bit, I suppose a little mystery keeps the relationship fueled.

Cheers.

Hi Paul
Good choice of car. At last another prestigio owner.

I bought mine secondhand and made the same mistake in thinking it had the xenons because it has the headlight washers and they come as an option together. The easiest way to tell, is the xenons don't have the headlight height adjuster switch to the right of the dash.

The leather seats are very supportive and comfortable and after has survived my four under tens over a busy summer holidays looking as new.

Sounds good to me Stu. I'm getting 18 in town and 24 on motorway trips.

Re: It's arrived!!!

On the mpg bit, I'm getting 41mpg at the mo, mainly motorway stuff at 70mph in 6th gear. Angel have worked their stuff on this and it's worth every penny.

That sounds very good, will "Angel" mine sooner or later, just finding time. I'm getting 35mpg doing 90ish.

John, just for interest at 70mph I am doing 2000 revs in sixth I don't know how that compares with a 5 speed box.

Will post a piccy when I get round to cleaning it!

Re: It's arrived!!!

Paul, you have the 2.2, same as me, whereas John_K has the 2.0.

I will look next time I am driving at 70, put it on cruise, trip it, and give you the mpg and revs - there is a nice long, flat bit of dual carriageway near here to try that out.

Stu

Re: It's arrived!!!

I tend not to drive too often at 70, but at 90 in 5th in my 2.0 I'm at about 3000 revs.

I tend to drive rather harsh, but am getting about 32mpg. Next long journey I get I'll do a bit of testing at 70 also!

Re: It's arrived!!!

I still find I get about 500 miles to a tank - longer distances should be better, but I do tank it a bit, usually stuck at 90, which kills my overall economy!!!

Hi Shrek,

I have a 2.0l Eleganza Auto and I am getting about 24mpg in town and around 30mpg+ on a run. The average over 2,000 miles has been 26mpg, mostly short trips by my wife.

Yours seems a little thirsty to me. That is the sort of mileage I got on my Range Rover V8 Auto.

Re: It's arrived!!!

OK so after a couple of days on the road in my 2.0JTD manual, some figures...

Averaged economy over a range of conditions (and harsh driving) is about 29mpg. Typical range about 530 miles on a tank.

Flat road, 70mph in 5th (which is at about 2400rpm), 38-39mpg. Estimated range over 600 miles on a tank.

Driven sensibly, it's not bad!
