Picked up the Ulysse 2.0 JTD Eleganza today,47k on the clock, nice drive from Birmingham, no time to sit and figure out all the nitty gritty of the Connect/Radio/CD, couldn't figure the radio bit out properly so missed the Grand Prix!! CD played Ok, although the warning message telling me I can't use the 'phone/not connected appears at every start, it goes when I press ESC. Anyway, well pleased, tootling along the A38, shades on, turn off at Barton-under-Needwood, and I see a warning message, "Auto gearbox failure", closely followed by a now familiar "child safety system activated". The auto box didn't seem to change to 4th at any time, and I had a hell of a job pulling away from a roundabout. At Sudbury, the car just didn't want to go. I turned everything off, and began again, it seemed ok but revved like the clappers if I tried to accelerate. What have I got myself?? Auto lights don't work/not fitted, RT3 display in darkness tonight! It looks and feels great. Oh, and can't find the CD for the SatNav either. What do you reckon people????

Should have said its on an 03/53 plate, got 7 leather seats, front two heated, the air-conditioning is better than the Passats, AND....I never noticed the funny little aerial at the front, until Haydn, from Halfords, who put me a front o/side indicator bulb in, and a new aerial at the back said "what's that for"?
It had some sort of white sealant around it, and pulled out rather than unscrewed.
I've gone and got an ex-taxi, and its gonna send me bankrupt!!!!
I'll just cry myself to sleep.

I knocked him down £500 on the screen price, as it needed two front tyres, and a service. You will cringe at this, but there was no service history with it, I don't think anyone has laid a spanner on it, but I thought, only 47000 miles, it'll be OK. I couldn't part-ex the Passat, that needs a bloody gearbox, and I just couldn't find another like this for the money!! Do you reckon the 'box has had it, or perhaps its a service or electrical problem?

Yeah I read those earlier in the week. My only thoughts were that this Ulysse is pale blue;it's only got 7 seats; leather; non-electric sliding doors, so not typical Addy Lee stock. Oh yes, the kid surveillance mirror is missing. I had to take wife and kids with me to inspect/test drive it, not a good idea, driving down Stratford Road on a saturday dinnertime, had a rotten meal at Adil, Balsall Heath, really gone downhill, drove back in the hire car at a rate of knots and it still took 2 hours 20 mins. Wife subsequently ill all day today.Went down on the train to pick it up, and the rest you can read above.................
I just hope nobody makes the same stupid, irrational, costly mistake. I'm still hoping that its gearbox fluid needs changing, or a small electrical problem. The car dealer , Mr Saleem, is not back from Amsterdam until Wednesday, maybe I'll see what Moss Rose Macclesfield make of it, then take it back to Birmingham.:cry::cry::bang::bang:

BTW, forgot to mention, about 200m from home, up a small hill at a junction, the damn thing wouldn't go at all, no drive whatsoever. Turned it off, started again, no probs. Just took it out 2 hours ago to Tesco, drove fine, in tiptronic & auto.
Goodnight!!

er....not really, he's written on the receipt £500 discount for service and other work. As I feared, waterpissing in through front hole in roof, just going to sort that now as per advice from another thread. Got it booked in for diagnostic tomoz, hoping its just lack of transmission fluid causing it to slip; took RT3 out, LED type, no bulb, and breaker on e-bay has sold his already. Is it any wonder..........he's still got an auto box tho' for £400 if I need it. If I had any hair I'd be pulling it out now.

Local garage identified two fault codes, 07, and 170, but could not find what they referred to. They reset them, and had a drive about, with no apparent trouble. However, after picking the kids up, it died completely, with a fault showing on the rt3 "auto gearbox fault". I then had to switch off, and restart.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:
