I wonder if somebody could please help me.

I have 2003 2.0 JTD Ulysse and I had a problem with dirty fuel in my petrol tank. I first of all changed my fuel filter as I thought that would solve the problem. The car would then start but cut out after 1 minute.
I then drained the fuel out of the tank and then replaced the fuel filter as I was beginning to suspect that there was water in my diesel, which I found out to be true.

So now the fuel tank has been drained and the fuel filter changed and the tank refilled with 80 litres of diesel, but the car is still cutting out after a very short period of time. Does anybody have any other ideas which I could try?

Any help would be most appreciated as I am now at the stage of pulling my hair out.

Many Thanks

If the water got right in you may have to blead off the fuel system right to the injectors.
Never had to do it so no idea how easy.

Hi Pat

Thanks for your response, the only think I cannot understand is that I have had the car idling for upto 10 minute but as soon as I started driving, it cut out after 100m, surely if there was still water in the system it would cut out while idling?.

It seems as though the low preasure pump in the tank is cutting out, I have tried finding the relay for the pump to short it out and see if that works but I cannot find the relay which controls it.

Many Thanks anyway

Yes, drain the fuel filter off into a glass jar to see whether there is still water coming through from the bottom of the tank.
With that totally excluded you can then look further into it.
