When the tank gauge gets to the last white line the engine dies on hills. There seems to be plenty of fuel in the tank. The fuel filter has been changed. Sometimes the yellow warning light comes on briefly. It seems like fuel starvation. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem before I start pulling the thing to pieces.
Thanks
Roger

Or just keep a little extra fuel in the tank instead? Treat the line in question as your empty tank line. Simple £0 fix I would of thought?

I have to do the same in my LDV Recovery Truck.

This could be a weak fule pump. Don't forget when going up hill it's having to draw fuel up a slope. A weak pump that's just managing normally maybe losing it on a slope.
Should be possible to prove by jacking the front of the car in the air to a similar height as it would be on a hill and seeing what's happening.
If the pumpis failing it's wiser to fix that live with extra fuel in the tank and have it die one day.

Just to put this one to bed. I have proved that it is the fuel gauge. Over the last 1500 miles it has not missed a beat including the steep hill from Borth to Clarach Bay. (Three times) It seems it is a fairly easy job to remove tank and 'adjust' (bend) the float arm to cure the problem. That's earmarked for a dry day!!!!!!!! and one when there is not too much fuel in the tank. I've also run over 1000 with a 50/50 mix of diesel and svo with no loss of performance. Just done a 370 mile trip on straight diesel (£40) I hope to compare this with 50/50 on the next trip.
