General Depollution System Failure

General Depollution System Failure

Done about 500 miles since the error and the re-attacment of the pipe, and all seems OK now (looking for a piece of wood to touch ...... oh yes, that'll do [touches head]).

Hi,

Since my initial posting about a month ago, no re-occurence my end. No idea why it happened, but reckon it had to be a dodgy batch of fuel, maybe.

Our car only done 7000 miles since 1st September, btw.

Jeesh - I've done 17500 in mine since September 4.

I've found a couple more things that the dealer hadn't done right when they put the engine back together - the turbo air intake hose wasn't securely fastened and had come off, and the intake manifold valve was hanging on its pipes rather than being bolted to the engine. Also spotted a few cables that were supposed to be clipped out of the way that were just flapping around loose (all now corrected) :-(

The car itself is still running fine though!

Which dealer was this, John, the one you went to and slated previously or the new one???

You forgot, this car gets used for school runs and weekend trips. My Mondeo is the commuting workhorse - now got 130k on the clock! But it is a 97-P. Not sure what to get once it expires though!

This was the old one..... (Arnold Clark of Stourbridge). I've had no significant work done at the new one to comment either way....

All still running nicely - no more 'depollution error' messages, and I still reckon the car's running smoother since the new engine than before. It also seems to be using less oil than previously. I am convinced that my old engine was not right......

The light came on again on Sunday [funnily enough, at virtually the same place as before, on the A1 near Grantham???].

It has still not gone off, so going into dealer on next available Saturday, which they reckon is the 3rd July. Not too happy about waiting that long.

I am also going to speak to them about - split sunblind, offside sliding door mechanism jamming sometimes, paint coming off runners, telephone, windscreen condensation and certain bits of loose trim!!!

Stu

I've still not had a repeat of the message, and it's been 2000+ miles since the problem that caused the message. All still running nicely.

I took my car to the dealer last Thursday for a quick check prior to them having it this Friday for a full day of inspection/correction (wanted them to see what needed replacing before the Friday work so they could get the right bits in before hand). Hopefully after Friday all of the problems as a result of the recent 'botched' work will be put right. I've had nothing happen with the car since the engine problem that the 'botched' work didn't cause, and the car has now done in excess of 18000 miles.

I agree that the phone mike is bad, but with some foam padding it's better than it was, and so long as you're not doing 70+ down the motorway, keep the volume below 16 and it seems reasonable. I think it struggles with feedback - not sure how they would deal with that without a major change somewhere with the RT3!

I wish you luck with yours when it goes in! Do let us know the outcome!

John ;)

I will indeed - I wanted to go there sooner, I know Warren at my local dealer who can put it on the Examiner.

But weekends are my only choice - they suggested that my wife goes down during the day, and fit me in sooner, but she won't be happy with that! Plus I would rather see what is going on than be fobbed off.
