Hello everyone,
Actually it's pretty hard for me to post this thread in a certain car forum, as my car is a hybrid between Turkish and Italian engineering.
The car is(. Tofaş Şahin!! )
It's quite the same as FIAT 131, some how, with some differences in the front suspension, the engine, the interiors and exteriors of course. My engine is FIAT 1.4 spi SOHC!
I am trying to upgrade the car totally. I started with the suspenssion and now got front TEIN coilovers from HONDA CIVIC which are running great, rear Mitsu _ EVO coilovers which are cool, also front brakes were changed from the original fiat 131 "227 mm diameter brake rortors: to "284 mm diameter brake rotors" from Alfa Romeo 146 T.S.
All the bars I could fit to my car were added.. Everything was done by me, as an engineer, without getting help from any mechanic or workshop.. I really love the DIY life style..
Now after all of this I think I can go for the engine upgrades..
My engine's ECU is the same used to run the FIAT 131 1.4 spi engines
I want to turbocharge it.. but I'm a noob in turbocharging SPI!! specially on stock internals...
Those are the mod.s I've done so far to prepare the engine for teh extra amount of air which will be forced inside using the turbo, as much as I could!
1-I already ported and polished my intake manifold..
2- Installed larger intake valves "1.6 intake valves"
3- Craved Power rings on the intake valves
4- long throw exhaust manifold 4-1
5- Grooves to reduce the C.R and prepare the engine for the turbocharging
6- Splitfire ignition cables, K&N cone filter " I don't really consider this as a mod.
I already got Garret turbo charger got it from Opel Astra 1.4 turbo engine.. which is suitable for low boost..
But I still don't know what to do with the SPI problem.. I need more fuel in case of high revs..
I thought about using the regulator already available in the TB but I'm sure that it won't be enough!!
As I'm thinking of using 0.2 bar boost maybe 0.3 max!
Any ideas how to overcome this problem??
I have to say that my piston rings were broken once and it somehow affected the sleeves in the engine block.. so I got the sleeves machined and ported and used bigger Pistons of course!
I heared about "Second Injector" method which is common for turbocharging spi engines.. BUT I don't know about it.. what is it or how to do it?
Sorry for the long talk... But I need your help!
Thanks in advance!
