hey guys and gals

i have a seicento 1.1 and am looking into the possibility of fitting a carburetor bolt on filter rather than induction kit etc. Has anybody done this before? what were the results? i don't really have much of an issue fabricating a bracket to fit in place on the original mounts and could possibly create a heat shield to sit underneath it but just want to know if anyone has tried it before and how it performed. also a tiny bonnet scoop is not entirely out of he question.

regards
Alex

First, you don't have a carb. You have a throttle body.

Secondly, that's pretty much how the K & N kits are. They're crap. They take in hot air from hot and high in the engine bay. A heat shield isn't going to help -- the heat is not transferred by radiation.

Bonnet scoops are best avoided. There's plenty of air getting in there, not enough gap for it to get out. The scoops you see on some recent performance cars are feeds for intercooolers (Bini, Subaru, etc). Vents beat scoops -- Elise, Tamara, Noble, Stratos.
