Hello people!

I'm onto my second tipo and my latest version, a mean 1.4 petrol demon continually has the 'Excessive Brake Warning' light on.

I've had the brakes checked and there in fully working order but the light remains on. I've prodded and poked around and cannot seem to find what keeps the light on. The haynes manual mentions something about a sensor on the pads but i cannot for the life of me see any wiring on the brakes of the newer tipo or my old tipo for the connection of a sensor, or for that matter a sensor itself.

Does anybody have any ideas as to the location of the mystery sensor? or another cause of the light being on? if not how hard is it to remove my dash so i can take the bulb out to kill the light?

on the subject of dash's how hard would it be to swop an anology dash to a digital dash?

Any help will be greatly apperciated...

Cheers
Chris

could be low on brake fluid or faulty fluid sensor but most likely is that your car should have brake sensor wires fitted to the pads but may have the wrong ones fitted.the sensors work by a wire being fitted to the pads and when they wear down the wire contacts the brake disc and lights the warning.the wires usually come with the pads at about 10cm long,so have a look and see if theres anywhere for these wires to plug in around the brakes

Hello

Thanks for the pointers, checked the various fluids and sensors, but the problem appears to be elsewhere as there are no sensors on the discs, well there are no connecting wires anyway, so i guess the problem is a short somewhere and thats nothing a bit of black tape over the light wont fix...

Cheers for the help

Hi, I'm new in this forum... Sorry for my english in advance...
I saw that "mystery sensor" on my tipo (1,4 DGT '89) only on front-left wheel, attached to the brake-pads with wire, which comming through small hole in the middle of the mud-guard (best viewed in full-left steering whell).
But I think there is realy short somewhere, bacause this light (Excessive Brake Warning) flash only when press brakes and wire contacts the brake disc. If that wire not connected, there no any lights, but whire must be out of touch with any mettal part of the chassis.
