I hope someone can help!

I recently bought a 1.4ie Tipo for the good lady but last night it died on us! As we were driving along, the lights dimmed and eventually, the engine cut out. I tried jumping it from my car and it started fine but as soon as I removed the jump leads it died again.

I have noticed that when you turn the ignition on, there are only two lights on the dash, the hand brake and oil pressure lamps; the charging system light does not come on at all.

I initially thought that it was an alternator fault but as the light is not there, I am starting to wonder if there is another issue.

Any ideas would be much apperciated!

Sounds like your battery is flat because the Alternator is not charging or your Battery has collapsed. Check all wires at Alternator and Battery. What you really need to do is check voltage at Battery. Have your Battery health checked. If there is 14v approx at the Battery whilst running, its Battery. If not, its Alternator.

Only exception is if your battery is fully dead, then it can do all sorts of wierd things.
