Technical Strange Engine Sound !!!

hi all
( 1993 1.6 sx i.e. with bosche s.p.i. + digiplex 2 module+ coil attached to the edge of battery base )

i have a strange sound coming from my engine
in idle speed there`s a ticking sound coming from the engine
in general the engine sound is very loud in rapid acceleration or even cruising in fixed rpm 2000 3000 rpm`s
my acceleration dropped down
i got everything checked and rechecked ( oil+filter, airbox+filter, injec cleaner in tank, distributoter head cleaned, spark plugs+spark cords .........)

plz help me with this

Ticking sound could be and proberly is an inlet gasket blow or exhaust gasket blow. Could also be Head related like a tappet for example. With engine running, try a little bit of washing up liquid around the inlet manifold gasket. If the idle changes, you have a leak. Can you not let a garage have a look at your car?

hi all

could this sound be the valves coz in my old car that sound always meant that the the valve clearance needs adjustment but that old car got a different valve system ( the one with a operating small hummer above )

and i have a poor acceleration since that ticking started
could the blown gaskets be the cause ???
coz if it`s the gaskets i can change the whole set ( inlet, exhaust ... )

sounds like it could be the manifold gaskets. mine have gone 3 or 4 times in the last year. but that's mainly due to poor fitting of a new downpipe by national. it starts off with a weird tapping noise. hmmm its pretty weird not a normal tap... hard to explain... well anyway after a while a hole forms and you then sound like some chav, and people stop giving way to you etc. the poor acceleration would be a result as well as excessive fuel consumption. a bit of a job to change them though. you need to get underneath etc.
