Want a pair of nice rims for my 1995 Tipo 1,6 this summer. Are not sure if it should be 195/50R15 - or if I should go all the way and put on 205/40R16? I am thinking maybe it will be to "wide" with the last option where the rims will have to be 7,5" wide...Anyone have suggestions? What are you riding on yourself? :)

Currently on the standard 195/50R15 6J. With a little extra lowering it should look perfect.

Have used 15" 7J and they fit in the arches ok. A great wheel to use is the 16" rims off the 20VT coupe.

Are there many Fiats in Norway? I am thinking of doing a tour of the Scanadanavia countries for a honeymoon but don't want to get stuck if something silly and easy to fix breaks, but I can't get hold of the parts.

Thank you. 195/50R15 is what I think also will be the "ultimate" compromise between beauty and comfort. And further I know now that even 7J will fit well. Thanks again. (y)

Wow. Sounds wonderful with your honeymoon plans. When will it be? It is very nice in summer with nature. My city is good for arrival or departure with the ferry between Newcastle and Bergen.

Fiats from 1994 and up with Punto in front is what you will see mostly here to. But in general Fiat is outnumbered here also by "boring" Japanese and German cars. Fiat dealers are few. But here is a list from Fiats main page with phone and address to the cities where they can be found in Norway:
http://www.fiat.no/forhandlere.asp

But every little garage on the corner in any small village can also order parts for you from Fiat in Oslo and have them the next working day, if it isn't a to serious job required.

But hey, what are we talking about...NOTHING will break. It is your:) :) Tipo. :worship:

Hello!

With 205/40R16 you will lose some highspeed and the acceleration will go some worse. At next, you have to modify the inner rear and front mudguard .
I think the 195/50 is a good tire size for the tipo, too.

best wishes ~shar~

PS: sorry for my poor english.

I'm ryding on 195/50/15 They are fine, no rubbing or anything they are only small :)

I don't think you'll need modding for 16"s. Bushboy (a member of the forum) had 17"s on his Tipo and it was ok so he said.

Will only need modding if you plan to lower your Tipo more then 35mm-40mm

Hello!

What i forgot: It depends on the wheel size and the outline of the tire, if you have to mod or not.

best wishes ~shar~

Agreed. Common size mean ok price and lots to choose from. With the 195/50R15 (which I understand most ride on) the difference in total hight of the tire from original standard 165/65R14 is only 6mm which is 1%. Barely noticable in any way. :) As I remember 175/65R14 was standard on the turbo diesel models until 1993 - and 185/60R14 was optional on some models. I bought my Tipo used now with the standard 165/65R14...that's why I am looking forward to change so much.:D

Hi Guys

I'm riding on 205/40/R16, Avon ZZ3 tyres and Fiat Stilo Rims (7.5 I think?) with no mods. My suspension is -35mm uprated sports (can't remember which brand). Gives a really good firm ride with awesome cornering ability. Need to firm up the chasis a bit by addind a suspension brace. Only point is that the wheels often grab any groves in the road and you need to fight back to keep on track. You also need to source decent alloy wheel bolts, you wouldn't believe that agro that caused!:bang: Make sure they're the right length otherwise they may protrude into the rear hub and snag on the brake shoes - yep it happend to me so be warned! Otherwise, no regrets!

Cheers

Oh, you may need bucketed seats to stop you rolling out of the seats - that is if you like corners!

i'm running 205/40/17 on my tipo its lowered 35 mm and no rubbing looks great.

oh and no word of a lye i had my first ever tipo 1.6 lowered on full race springs by 110mm!! yes it was very sketchy getting over sppedbumps and i never had more than 4 in the car but hey i think it was the lowest car up here in perth anywayz lol

Where do you buy Lowering Springs like that? I found it almost impossible to find even 40mm, I did find them eventually but they were cheap springs which I wouldn't want to fit anyway.
