Hello all, I was pointed here by Gaz and thought I'd share a few pictures of Trixie the Tipo here!

One of only a few Fiat Tipo 2.0ie SLXs left in all now, this car came around by complete fluke...

I had a Fiat Panda 100HP I was looking to sell and a mate of mine wanted to buy it, without the funds he wanted to offer both cash and a car to me and this was the car he offered! I had to take him up on it, I've never had a Tipo before or really even thought of having one but it was a great opportunity!

The father of the person I got the car off has known the car since new - Trixie lived a quiet life for a good couple of decades with 1 owner doing very short journeys, not far off 15k miles it was on semi-recently, it was then driven by a Tipo enthusiast (who put the plate on, they may be on here?) and the mileage racked up massively to about 103k miles after only a few years - says something about the reliability for sure! The car ended up with the father and then was sold to his father who unfortunately passed and the car came back and then sat for a little while before being made available to me, I drove from Chippenham to Wrexham via Cardiff to pick up my girlfriend as well and we dropped off the 100HP and came back along the coast of Wales west from Wrexham and then down south through Brecon on the way back, going to Black Rock Sands first! Great trip before the lockdown came in!

Absolutely love the car and all of its creature comforts, electric windows, electric sunroof, economy gauge, super comfy interior, it's so quirky...

I love the look of it with the colour coded bumper bottoms and to my surprise the car has central locking as well! Particularly liking the plate on it too!

The engine does pull well, it's not brute speed but it's a nice relaxed comfy cruiser and our trip down was so easy. No changing down gears all the time, comfy seats mean you don't feel the need to have a break all the time too. What a great car and I can't believe I've never seen another on the road!

I've got a couple of loose plans for Trixie, new number plates, tidy up a couple of bodywork bits, but for once I actually have a Fiat that isn't ruined - the floor is great! Gives me time to focus more time onto the other Fiat projects I have while this becomes a daily... ;)

Very nice!! Have the belts been done?
I've been told that the timing belt was changed 3 years ago and I believe the intervals are 7 on these so I'll be doing it in 3-4 years time by that going rate! Are they particularly prone on these?
No pics to see on the thread..

Gogogo ;)

I had 4 tipos..

and a tempra s.w...with your motor..
and trim probably

Lovely to drive :)
I did try! The pics are in now ;)

Nice one, you just don't see them anymore! The Tempras have basically disappeared in all, shame really as I think they look nice and as you say they're a great drive!

Thinking of getting the unqshop rear spoiler. Anyone else tried it or know anywhere better to get one? I think the rear end needs something and that may well do it!

Done a health check today, really tidy, just needs a couple of small bits. Played with the windscreen washers and the one way valve had failed so new one fitted but I broke a jet in the process so got to fix that now! But now have proper pressure which is good...

Thanks for the advice all! It definitely won't get near that mileage as I have so many other classic Fiats going but looks like I'll move the belt change forward a little then and do the belt changes in a couple of years instead! Cheers!

A truly splendid looking car, congratulations. Exceedingly rare back in day and even rarer now, if not otherwise extinct. I rather like the OEM alloys, the interior is the same sumptuous velour as my former 1.9 TD much missed but you are elevated to a different class with the highly desirable addition of a central armrest. The headlamp washers when working are a great party piece in operation and complete the refined look.

Thank you! Only ever 115 shown at one time on howmanyleft and now only 4 showing left! Never sold in a mass quantity, maybe as you say the sumptuous velour and central armrest were simply too expensive for the masses... the washers work, as do the ones on my Panda 4x4 Sisley, double win! :D A few small jobs to do on this car but it is being a wonderful daily car!

Yup, just checked the brochure for SLX differentiation. Only the SLX gets a height and lumbar adjustable driver's seat and armrest. No messing about. Also vented discs and 'EON and CD compatible' audio (along with the 16v). So your future-proofed too.

Really nice rare car, glad you appreciate it.

The number plate belongs on a 1.4 though !

They always looked great in silver, I had an M-reg one (1.4 ie) for a while but crashed it on damp diesel and that was the end unfortunately.

My blue M-reg 1.4 ie is still soldiering on, the lockdown should see it get some overdue attention.

Definitely the most luxurious of cars then, I am honoured! I have tried the 'CD compatible audio' and must admit, it doesn't work... something to fix one day!
Absolutely love that!
Cheers mate, she's awesome!

Definitely, not many of these about now, crazy that so many disappeared!

It was on a 1.4 before but was transferred! If you buy A20 TPO and pay for the transfer fees you're welcome to A14

Silver is definitely a great colour for them, I really like it! I've changed the colour on a couple of my cars but this colour is a keeper... glad to hear it, it's great to hear more are keeping going!
