Well I've attended Auto Italia almost every year since the first one.

Originally their was only one entrance down the hill. This made everything slow but reasonably well flowed to wherever you needed to go.

In the early days the Heights was the public car park.

Later on the Heights was used as the 500 Abarth area and I can't recall when they used the Bridge access. Basically 3 entry points and thus conflicting traffic flows.

While we are on the gripe soap box AutoItalia has become soooooo big, Brooklands 2nd largest event of the year, there has been an ever increasing discontinuity in how the cars get spread around all over the place.

Several visitors who spoke to me this year were complaining that the real classics were scattered all over the place with cars you can see in any dealership show room. I think what they were trying to say was that with a show of this size, where they are happy to see all cars (new, older, classic, etc) they did not want to go on a treasure hunt!

I can thoroughly see their point of views.

When shows get to this size, with a year between each one, and the revenue generated, I personally think a little more thought and planning could go into the event.

We should raise that with the organisers so that it doesnt repeat next year. No point organising a stand if they wont let the cars get to you.

Your problem may be because of your site entry point. See my later post.

In the old days there was just the one entrance and one traffic flow. Later years have had three entrances and 3 contraflows.

However for those that get their entrance wrong then if you have a valid a valid pass (eg to the Fiat Forum stand) then the marshals should help/enable you to safely reach your destination.

I arrived via the main gate and had no problem getting to the stand (mainly due to marshals at road entrance directing me to main gate even though I said it had to be via MB World and Vickers Bridge).

Well until "tipopike" responds then we won't know the full details.

I'll also say that many of the marshals are very accommodating (and have always been so) but in a complex and large event it goes without saying that there will be one or more marshals "not clued up". Being "not clued up" can ruin a day. I'm not going to suggest that running an event of this size is easy. Far from it.

Me again. I tried to reply to the PM but in case that didn't work here is what happened.

I came in down the hill as always but when it came to turning left to go round tot he aircraft area I was prevented from doing so by a marshal who directed me, and others, up to the banking. To be fair it was impassible to turn left because of cars entering from that area.

I am pretty sure there were many other FF cars up with me.

Oh well - didn't really spoil the day

Its always going to be crowded BUT having marshals that know the layout would help!
