My wipers were juddering a bit on intermittent so I stripped off the arms and scuttle to remove the motor. Nice to see it's covered in blue plastic to keep it clean. I then noticed that the fresh air flap has only a loose plastic cover over it to keep rain out. Is this correct?

It seems to be a random piece of plastic, or an afterthought. It doesn't clip on anything!

I have a Tempra but there's so few, I've posted here. Should be the same.

yeah, that's accurate Bluejohn, regarding the motor.

I have an alfa 146; and its IDENTICAL to what you've got there tommo

I have the same piece of plastic over the fresh air intake. It is 'sort of' held in, by the rubber seal and scuttle panel when fitted.

Let me ask you this; did you have an airfilter down there, over the fan..??!

HANGON!

I see whats happened to yours! It's fitted the wrong way round! that curve on the far side, is supposed to be on the seal-side, and the two 'fingers' up against it. Someone's had that out and refitted it backwards.

Is your car white!? That's so cool!

The, erm, 'afterthought' cover is the right way round, it needs slight adjustment (bending a bit) to get it to fit to a 'near enough' standard.
They never seat perfectly, mainly due to the way they're made not to fit in the first place, probably. Ö¿Ö
Luckily, it does the job of keeping water out of the air intake.

Dante, AFAIK, pollen filters were only fitted to cars with A/C, but a conversion kit is available for those with breathing issues.

oh, crikey, SFB- I couldn't find an emoticon for 'total puzzlement'- so I had to go further and chew through my pictures-

you are of course RIGHT! (thank you!) My apologies Tommo- here is how mine is fitted- it catches the lip of the windscreen edge...

(P.S. I have never heard of the conversion kit- would it have been a genuine FIAT part..?)

Not sure about that.
I was told about it on either the Argentinian or Italian Fiat Tipo facebook forum and whoever it was also posted a link which I didn't bother to keep. It never seemed to be an issue for me, I was raised on cars when ashtrays were considered a luxury item and heaters were an extra.

Having said that, you may have noticed that I've added a couple of bits to my 'standard' 91 1.4 over the last year or two.
